Gift & Trade Freebies

It has been suggested that the GT offers of low CC cost items for newer, rare and upgraded items is probably due to players directing a trade at a particular player or because they are new to the game and that is the best they can trade. Due to the high number of these trades it makes it difficult to navigate through the GT lists.

I think it might help to add another GT thread. We have them for trades and thank yous so how about adding one where players can request or offer free items.

I think this would cut down on the number of trades listed and make it easier to search.

 

In the G&T we have multiple functions that can cut down the lists, if used.
We have the search option where we enter the name of an item we are interested in.
We can also filter the offers and the requests by categories... trees, tree upgrades, stables, stable upgrades, etc.

Would a second thread in the G&T not make the searching actually more time consuming?

 

I think nm56 was suggesting a thread on the forum - where people can share what items they have that they are willing to give away for free.

I personally think adding a "dump it" feature to the event itself would really help. People could just put all their unwanted items there and you can pick up anything that is in that group of unwanted items - for free.

 

Someone wanting an Anthill who only had a low level item to trade would just list it on the new thread so ther\e would be less trade listings.

Only those players who had items they wanted to get rid of (nothing wanted in return) or those wanting free items would use the new thread. Those who direct these offers at certain players would still use the trade listing.

Note: a "dump it" feature could work also. It would probably be faster because you wouldn't have to send the messages.

I am not sure how the search functions could be improved.
I suppose they could but I can't think what changes would make them better, with an exception in the scroll down list.
If I felt that the trading lists were too hard to manage, then I would simply suggest to remove from the G&T all items that can be bought with CCs.

 

A possible improvement for the search is to have two search bars, one to search the first column and one to search the second column.

Let's say I'm looking for one of the new trees, red adler. When I search for "red adler" most of the results are not trades offering red adler, but trades wanting red adler, those results are of no use to me. Being able to search only what is on offer would then be useful.

Otherwise I support the suggestion of removing all CC items from the trade offers, and no more scrolling, please!

You can narrow your search further than just the search box at the top. Both columns have drop down arrows so you can search by categories.



For example, to further Mir's example of a Red Alder, if I want to find a Red Alder for my farm, I would not only type in Red Alder in the Search box but I would use the Offers By Others drop down box and select Trees.
Yes, you will still see some offers of items that are for CC but it narrows it down so you avoid a lot of that. I do this frequently and it narrows pages and pages and pages down to just a few.

I also fully support multiple quantities being shown. Some trades I have clicked on looked reasonable but then the actual request was out of proportion to what I was willing (or able ) to trade.

I love Gift and Trade. I always have.

If I have posted trades in the exchange and they are not accepted, I usually delete the offers before the end of the event. Not all players do that. If I was not able to be online right before the event ended to cancel my offers, I would not want to lose my license because it wasn't accepted.

 

Yes, I know, I do that to. That doesn't change the fact that most of those offers are the opposite of what I am looking for. A simple option to choose which column you want to search makes a lot of sense and would help a great deal. I'm sure I gave this as feedback years ago when the search function was introduced. Reminds me why I try to stay away from the player suggestion threads. Makes no difference.
