Everyone's different. I really liked the randomness of the event. Being a perfectionist, if a mini-game is entirely deterministic like the Renzo strength test, I beat myself up when I get less than perfect results making it not at all fun to play. With this one I could relax since after a while it was apparent that my skill level didn't matter much. Result - I enjoyed playing and since I was relaxed I actually played much better.
I also liked the randomness of the drops. If we'd just had to donate a set number of drops + machine parts for set rewards of a cloud row and a bunch of other fixed prizes, as so often happens, I'd have been dreadfully bored by the event. As it was we got some really very generous rewards and the excitement of seeing what they all were.
I even liked the fact that the drops were not balanced between animals and crops. Like many long term players, I have the ability to speed up crops by a huge amount, but not so much the stables (unless I want to use expensive power feed). The stables being the limiting factor, I spent most of my time and field space on stables. It was good having to do something different for a change and it made it feel fairer towards newer players.

Was there anything I didn't like about the event? Well, one minor thing. There was a tool tip hint which got in the way of the fishing game, so I spent the event turning tool-tip hints on and off, since you really need them for animal farming. That was annoying.

I think it was a great event, and I'm really happy with my prizes. I'm very much hoping that the deco items will be tradable at the next Gift&Trade as I got a lot of spares.

I agree. Wish I'd thought of turning the tool tips off for fishing. Really, I only needed to read this tip once, or put it up in the corner where I could ignore it.

I am conflicted about this event but still probably more on the positive rather than the negative side. I really, really liked that it didn't require us to plant endless amounts of crops & for a change I could have more of a balanced farm of both crops & stables. That has given me time to catch up on some animals I was getting in short supply of. And I really enjoyed the fishing, the graphics were good & it was fun. However, like others I found it didn't matter if my cast was dead on the circle or outside as to what fish I actually caught.

On the down side I was disappointed that even after I managed to produce around 100 lures myself & then bought another 80 I still didn't manage to get all EP items for the cloud row. I do hate having an empty row there so that is going to annoy me for some time to come. I did get two Pond Monsters so maybe in time I can trade it with someone but then again I don't think the game should have given me doubles until I had all three of the required items first (if that makes sense). I did however get some really nice random rewards so maybe the game just needs to be tweaked so that it's a little easier to get all cloud row items first?

All in all I did enjoyed it & I can see BP is trying very hard to deliver different events to keep things interesting so please keep up the good work.

    Happy Farming :music:

Now that the game is over i would like to give my opinion.... I really liked the game as far as the fishing part and the graphics.
I stand by the idea that either the feather drops could have been increased more or the amount of them needed to make the lures decreased. The other thing is that this was put out as a game of skill not so much chance. If you align the rings perfectly then you should not get a minnow. If you miss aligning the rings you should not get a golden trout. This game was suppose to be like Renzo Mach Meter which is a skill game, the closer you get it to the middle on the 2 slider bars the higher the points. The farther away the less points but in the case of the fishing the when you don't have the rings together you get a golden or rainbow trout.. that makes no sense. Also this is not the first game that we have had to align circles or shots to get prizes but this one seems to be the hardest.
I really think that if there was more skill and less randomness then the drop rate for feathers wouldn't be as much of an issue. This being that you wouldn't have to fish as much and could work to getting certain fish to get their box prizes. the other thing that could have been is if the drop rate for feathers was much better or needed less feathers for the lures then the randomness of the fish wouldn't have been an issue as much. This being that you could make more lures to fish more and have more chances to get the cloud row items or other prizes.
I really believe that it's a combination of the amount of feathers (needed for lures and their drop rate) AND the randomness of the fish that have caused the issues, stress and made people unhappy.
The other thing was the tool tip was driving me crazy.. maybe you can move it over a bit or make it that you only need to read it once or can just X out of it after reading and not pop up again. I was a pain to disable and then enable it all the time especially when i could only fish a few times or less each time i went there.
I really liked the fact that you could win the cloud row items multiple times and most of the prizes were really good as well. I would like to see the game come back again but with it tweaked a little as suggested.
    Thank you

I am coming back to give some positive feedback - I still hold that the game was described as skill and was in fact random. If it had been described as random, I would have been less disappointed. :music:

I did enjoy the game and when I resigned myself to the fact that I was unlikely to get all the Cloud Row items for both farms, I enjoyed just playing for the fun of it. I actually only got one Cloud Row item for each of my two farms so a little sad about that but hoping to get the missing ones at a later date. :)

I liked that this event didn't involve lots of sitting at the computer to grow heaps of event plants, etc. I worked and was away the weekend but still managed to make a lot of lures. With more time to plan my strategy, I would have been able to balance the gummy worms and feathers so I could make more lures, and get more fish. But I managed about 10 a day, even when I wasn't home/able to log in often, which was more than I expected. So for me this was a great event for the summer time. ;)

One thing I would have preferred and I think it has already been said - it would have been better if the Cloud Row was not themed.

Thanks for giving us another style of event, it really did make a pleasant change - even with the downsides, it was still a great event. :inlove:

There could have been 4 demarcations for 4 fishes within the stationery circle. So that we players could know where our moving circle finally lands and what we would get. Based on that we could improve our skill in clicking for the next bites.

I think this expectation is reasonable as we struggled to get the drop items, especially the worms which we got one per stable and did not get from lower EP giving stables. 5 worms + 5 feathers for one ordinary lure demanded lot of efforts from players. It goes without saying what it is for premium lure.

So I think its fair on our part to expect where our clicks land and hence what we get. If this event or similar event is introduced in future please take into consideration my suggestion.

    or,

Let there be no circles. Instead we click on the lure as soon as there is a bite and there be demarcations on the lure itself.

I had a lot of fun with this event and would play it again. didn't mind that the skill part of the fishing didn't work properly, I figured that out quickly and then just made regular lures, sat back and just enjoyed the fishing:p

I caught about 40 fish and got some great prizes, always love the suspense around mystery trees and stables. It added to the fun. Only 1 yucky turbo mulch prize. Mulch...REALLY!:wuerg:

I really question the decision to include a themed cloud row. I got 2 of the items quickly but couldn't land the fishing fun, bummer!!

I caught a good number of Golden Trout that landed me plenty of nice prizes but just couldn't manage to get the last giver item, Fishin Fun. I didn't get any extras so will have trouble finding one at G&T assuming they will even be on the trade list. Of the 7 stalls and 5 trees I won, the best were an Orange Chameleon and an XXL Papaya. I just don't seem to have the luck others had in getting Pink stalls or rare stalls and trees. Could have lived without the Yellow Ostrich.

i got another cloud row that will be incomplete without the deco items that go on it,and nobody will give them up in the Gift and Trade,i sort of had fun with the mechanism of the game, but the feathers were not coming in quick enough

well, finally harvested the secret stables and received a pink pigsty and a pink ostrich. but these still don't make up for a partial cloud row. hopefully someone will exchange something for both the fishing fun and the best friends that i need in the next g/t but more likely i'll just have to live with a uncompleted row. Probably will have to pay in order to fill the empty slots-bp will make those of us with focd buy the necessary items either with bbs or cash. Hopefully they won't make it too dear a price.

I did eventually enjoy this event, although I didn't get the last 2 givers for cloud row until only 2 hours remained... I agree with those who suggested the mini game needed tweaked, and should not have been advertized as a game of skill when it apparently required none.
I also agree with what Spotsbox said about the cloud row items being a guarantee as the row itself was, that would have made much more sense and wouldn't have disappointed so many players.
All that said I do appreciate the effort to change things up and have an event once in a while that doesn't require constant planting of a certain crop or animal.
I do wonder if team farmerama is occasionally slipping back into the old ways ( unbalanced, unfair and ridiculous amounts of items, drops etc.) being that I have been with farmerama almost since the very start I must say many things have improved greatly for the most part.

To those players who have said this was the worst event ever... sorry but no, not even close; there used to be events that were so demanding and unrealistically taxing even the highest level players complained of the unfairness.

Congrats to all who got what they were after, and my sympathies to those who tried and just didn't get what they desired.

The idea was good, but once again poorly executed!-.-
It didn't seem to matter how accurate you were with the target - perfect shots won minnows, poor shots won golden carp. This rendered the premium lures pointless.
Having won the CR on my first try, (I think most people did) it didn't take me too long to win a my first deco to fill it, the next two were something else. winning my 2nd after a couple of days and both these two again, it was in desperation a few hours before the end that I spent BBs on lures to get the final deco to fill the row. I hope my two spare decos will be tradeable at G&T in the future

I did like the part with the drops. I managed to finish with essentially the same number of feathers v worms. With lots of extra machine parts, which I don't need.

But the rest of this event stunk like a bucket of fish emulsion on a hot summer day. I NEVER have any luck with Renzo. I haven't bothered with Renzo since the second time it was available. That was 2-3 years ago. Since fishing was the only way to get the cloud row and givers... I didn't have much choice. I found I was most likely to get the golden fish if the moving circle was just outside the outer stationary circle. And that golden gave me junk.

After all that work I do not have all three givers. I was too sick from the heat to even think of buying anything other than Real Life ice. I need an opportunity to trade someone to get the missing giver.

These games of "skill" don't work for me because:
    • I live on the wrong side of the planet. About as far from Germany as a person can live and not be in the water.
    • I have a vintage laptop computer that overheats on a good day.
    • Temperatures here were over 105F last week. I don't have an air conditioner so it was over 95F inside the house. My compter and I don't do well in that kind of weather.
    • My IPS needs to be replaced.
In summary, good work with the drop rate algorithms. Forget the inane fishing, I have better things to do with my time.

I enjoyed the various prizes. The only criticism would be the lack of any consistent reward for lining up the 2 circles. It was possible to get smallest fish for lining up exactly and biggest fish for failing to line the circles up.
Apart from that - a really good chance to some brilliant prizes for nothing.
