Halloween 2014 Strategies.

Have not seen a strategy thread for the Halloween event yet so have stated one.

Here are the total requirements.

Creepy Creepers: 15300
Glowshrooms: 15800
Ectoplasm: 800
Chickens: 75
Rabbits: 75
Ducks: 75
Turkeys: 50
Sheep: 50
Pigs: 40
Cows: 80

The event goes for 6 days so the averages for the event are

Creepy Creepers: 15300/6 = 2550
Glowshrooms:15800/6 = 2634
Ectoplasm: 800/6 = 134

or the averages for 5 days as the first day is used for getting enough crops to grow on all fields.

Creepy Creepers: 15300/5 = 3060 per day
Glowshrooms:15800/5 = 3160 per day
Ectoplasm: 800/5 = 160 per day

I think the numbers are right if not please let me know.

 

Thanks Niknar, I'm so glad someone posts the requirements - I have no head for figures. Looks like I may have to clear all my fields, well except for the Glade - that will only be cleared if it's really necessary!

I usually average close to 200 drops per day so I should be ok with those. Unless they tweak the drop rate. Or I miss too much time.
Those crop counts worry me tho. I hate 4h crops. Too much farm-sitting. Hate using a 6h crop overnight, too much lost EP and drops. I need to think about the numbers some more, but since I tend to be late for harvests. I've gotten by with 2.5 fields for previous events. May have to clear cut all three fields. As usual I don't intend to use Baha unless I have too. I will be AFK at least one day during the event, probably two which will complicate things for me too.
I'm low on critters. I saw the FAQ for this last night but didn't have time to really read it. Was planning on putting some pens out today and forgot. I'll do pens tomorrow and pull them in time for carnations before bed for drops.

 

Thanks, Niknar! I had to look twice at this because it doesn't seem like we usually get this much notice for events and I wasn't even sure I was seeing the thing before my very eyes. Must be because of the high numbers of some of those long-ish animals.

I do so appreciate it when other farmers post total requirements! Thank you! I haven't gotten calmed down yet from the current extended MM in order to shift gears to thinking about this event (I am hopelessly myopic ), but I see there are significant amounts of both the 4 hour and 6 hour crop. I feel a bit of event fatigue and will have to evaluate the prizes to see if they are enough to compel me.

Edit: Suzee, yes, me too. The large amount 4 hour crop <sigh>, never works well with my RL.

 

I hate to get into a battle over Semantics but, just like selling an item for 99.99 sounds less than 100...
Looking at the calendar, 27 October - 2 November looks and counts to 7 days.

I am needing a break and will probably not be as FOCD (coming on the heels of the MM) on this Quest.
But I noticed when the announcement came out that many of the animals quickly sold out on the market.

 

Are comfort fields an option SuzeeR?

 

Hi Niknar, I noticed on the FAQ for this event that it starts Monday 27th Oct at 14.00 CET time and ends Sunday 2nd Nov at 14.00 CET time which makes it a total of 144 hours (which is only 6 days and not 7). With it being 6 days I'm going to find it a bit tight/stressed for trying to finish it, especially as i've managed to catch FOCD.

Is it better to grow in comfort fields during the night this 6-hour crop and in the day we grow in 1x1(with CAC) the 4-hour crop?

 

Comfort fields could be an option if you add SG to them; otherwise, they are not; at least, they wouldn't be for me (anyway, I'll most probably plant longer crops at night, not the event's).

For a 4hs base growth time crop, a CF takes 12:48 -if just watered-, 11:31 -watered and manured-, 05:07 -watered and SGed-. It yields a net gain of 12 seeds, 13 if PJed, 14 if CACed (add 4 if you also use Suzy-spray on them). So, if you have spare SG, it certainly is an option: with a CAC running, you would get 616 seeds as net yield just from the 44 plots in main field, 792 if also Suzy-sprayed.

For the 6hs crop, times are: 19:12 -if just watered-, 17:17 -watered and manured-, 07:41 -watered and SGed-, 06:55 -watered, manured and SGed-.

EDIT: escalonilla has just made me remind Suzy's spray effect doubles on CFs. I've just corrected the figure above. Thanks, escalonilla, for being so attentive.

EDIT2: Big question: does anyone know if Terror Bouquet will work on this event's spooky crops? I'll ask that question right away in General Issues.

 

I have updated the daily averages for 6 and 5 days.

Aluntino, I don't think think Terror Bouguet will work with the crops as they will be classed as event crops not spooky crops.

My starting strategy for the event is:
Plant the starting seeds on 2x2 nuke them with water manure super grow and suzy's super grow and harvest with cac.
Replant on 2x2 with water and manure and super grow on some of each of the crops (not sure how many of each yet)
Replant on a mix of 1x1 and 1x2.

 

What does CAC mean?

 

CAC: Carrot Apple Chutney. It's the commonly used acronym in English of that artisan product that, when active at the moment of harvest, makes each crop-dedicated plot yield 2 additional seeds, as PJ (Pumpkin Jam) yields an additional 1.

Exactly as you say, since the event's crops are in the category "event", they don't get affected by TB or the cloud row, for those who may have it already. (They've just answered my question).

(I'm nothing of that, by the way. English is actually my 3rd language, though learned since early age. Spanish/Italian are my native/natural languages. But I do love literature in general and I prefer to read it in its original language, if I can).

Well, once again I am working this afternoon - day off tomorrow! Wahoo!

So my strategy, just start off the first ones when I get home at 9.30 tonight and blitz them with everything else tomorrow. One bonus, I will have long term crops in everywhere else so (for once) I should get a good start with the ectoplasm drops!
