I am starting this strategy thread but there is already discussion underway in the previous event thread Moonlight Fairy Tale.

As I shared in that thread, I am happy to share my plan for my farm to help provide a basic framework for you to develop a winning strategy for your farm

For me, the priority will be to open all fields first. It will take 975 venom bulbs to do that. I will use 2x2's with 1x2 plots to fill in since there is no benefit to using 1x1s without buff enhancements like CAC or Pumpkin jam. I will use water and manure.

I will simultaneously immediately begin the Companion quest to gain the early rewards to help with opening more land.

We need a total of 120k in crops which can be grown on the mainlands. I will donate carnations as I have plenty in stock. Total donation needed 846. If you prefer roses as they are an easy crop to grow time wise, you will need 1062. If you have to grow something, grow what fits your schedule with or without refinements or any other amendments (water, manure, etc).

We need a total of 120k in animals. My assumption is that is mainland animals only. While there are animals that have greater barn value than cats/dogs, those are rare animals (wonder stables) and not what I have a large amount of but cats/dogs are easily available pens with good growing times. Both have a donation value of 450 and dogs take 12 hours and cats take 10 hours. Pick what fits you best. I have plenty in stock so I will use what I have most of. Total cats or dogs is 267.

***Please note that I did not consider any marketing factors as everyone's market is different. You may find it better to gather what you need from the market rather than grow it yourself. Find what works best for you.

25k total of MM crops, trees or animals are required. I will use darklight fireflies for 2 reasons. First, because I have more of them and second because with Silver Flame Incense, I can get 2 animals per harvest. I don't have many slime monsters so didn't even consider them. Trees and crops are too low a value for me to consider.

Edit: At first glance, I thought fireflies would be best based on my inventory and their barn value. However, duskshadow is a much better choice and that will be what I donate. I must have left off the zero (thinking 2500 instead of 250)

My main objective is the new spooky trees in the companion quest in Level 4. Level 5 offers some Power Feed but also duplicate givers that we can put in Haunted Manor.

My last objective is to worry about the speeding up of cat fairies. I will harvest the upgrades as often as I can and once I complete the opening of the fields and upgrades, I will then grow the moonlight herbs to speeds things up.

My totals are:
Venom bulbs - 1490 (975 to open fields, 725 for quest requirements less 210 quest rewards)
Moonlight herbs - 1175 (900 for cat upgrades, 725 for quest requirements less 450 rewards)
Breaths of Life 61 (72 needed for cat upgrades but we get 11 from quest rewards)
***Caveat***Additional moonlight herbs to be grown to make magic meals. How much will be needed all depends on how often you are able to harvest your cats every 4 hours.

Thanks Pups - glad you didn't take any notice of my floundering on the other thread!

I will probably do the first parts of the quest to have more seeds to start off, then aim to get all fields open, harvesting the Fairy Dens as I go, feeding them as/if/when I get Magic Meals.
My only worry is the MM crops/trees/animals but I am sure I can find something to throw in the pot!

Edit: I find by chance that I have 24,000 Killer Tomatoes - less than half of those will fit the bill ... wahoo!

Yeah, I think I had a session of growing them to see if I could some drops for an event some time ago and they just grew into a big killer pile! Seems less painful to let them go than any of the animals and tree fruit.

 

As I said in the other thread, somebody will find a flaw in my plan and you did! I was going by what I had in stock so I could focus on growing MM stuff needed for opening Mushroom Forest zones in the new quests. I have 1k in darklight fireflies and and was thinking that replenishing them would be easy to do with the Silver Flame Incense but it will take less time to grow 10k of killer tomatoes with CAC than to replace my fireflies.

I might be the Queen of Goof Ups this time but since no one was wanting to start a new thread, I tried to be brave

Thank you PnP .. I am working on some math myself trying to grasp this event....lol and so far I do find it little easier now.... but the thing i dont get is the DEN .. it says we get by unlocking 1,3 and 5 play areas.... but one is already opened... does that mean we get a free den? I also see that we can speed it up 4 times for instant harvest... by what the picture shows..

 

I might pass on this one and work on my Jack's Back FSQ and the new areas of MM instead. I'm away from the game for a good part of Thursday (son's ortho appt), and also have a repairman coming (broken oven), so I won't be able to tend my farm much -- and it looks like it will need 'in-front-of-the-computer' mode.

Haven't really read through it in detail yet, but it looks complicated, and a lot of work. Not sure I have the time to devote to it.

yes for 2 days...

also it says we get 150 1x1 spaces i see 5 play fields and i counted one of the... its 25 1x1 squares... so its really 125 1x1's that we can use.... or is something wrong with my math and the FAQ?

DL Fireflies is what I'll be using too. And Dusk shadow... I think.
I had them earmarked for something else like making slime pits but... Postponed...
I'm planning on building 40 slime pits and then using the new buff that speeds up their time. The problem with that plan... RL always interferes these days so I don't make it back to the game in time to make them useful... It's going to take me at least 6 more months to clean up the mess from the fire and get back to "normal" life. *sigh*

 

yes that's right no buffs at all.. but while some have said they will be using 4x4's i understand its less clicking... but my math says it will take longer to do... not much i don't think looking at the shape of the field.. not like we can place 4x4's evenly...lol

in a 4x4 area this is what I see

1 4x4 used you get 5 crops minus 1 seed you get 4
2 1x2 used you get 6 crops minus 2 seeds you get 4
4 1x1 used you get 8 crops minus 4 seeds you get 4

as much as i hate to click, i will be using 1x1's...lol I want them crops fast.... I got some coupons left.(need them for events for all 3 to 5 fields).. but trying to save.... few FSQ with harvester in it.... may try to get one.... Or i do by hand... ethier way... all good..

EDIT: I am so used to using buffs and getting the most out of squares i forgot what it was like to do it without..

this post i should remove huh? as it is just plain pointless now.

 

Don't forget, though, Jazac -- you are using 4 seeds for 1x1s instead of 1 seed for a 2x2.

One 2x2 will give you 5 crops using 1 seed (plus 4 crops and 1 extra for next planting).
Four 1x1s will give you 8 crops using 4 seeds (plus 4 crops and zero extra for next planting) .

Since you can't use buffs or fertilizer enhancements on the event field only, you will get more with 2x2s in the long run on that field.

 

DUH thank you jazzy for pointing that out... i totally forgot... . well i redid my math and it goes like this....i am maxing my field from big to small now....lol as all numbers for that math i just did comes to 4 crops each ... i must still be sleeping....lol

Thank you Illy for reminding me to check my stock of supplies for best donations. I keep forgetting there is a tab in the barn where I can see MM products(don't get to use that so often).

Feel the same way, Nellie -- all that hard work to try and build up some inventory - gone. And my trophy is only at 12%. If I had to dump them, I'd rather dump them there. Not a big fan of events like this. I think working on Jack's Back FSQ and the extra areas in MM will help me more in the long run (besides not having the time to devote to this event).

I think it's good for those who have a large inventory already in hand, though.
