Hi, I've been trying to refine Turkish Melissa for several days now and haven't had any luck getting any refinement whatsoever. I'm on my 7th try now, did 4 medium size pots and 2 small pots previously, none of them gave any refinements. This time I'm doing the 3 large pots, and phase 1 did not find any refinement. Currently on 2nd phase.

Is it really that hard refining Turkish Melissa, or am I just having a streak of bad lucks? I didn't have this much difficulties refining roses. Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts?

Mod, if this is not the right thread, please feel free to move it to the appropriate one. Thank you!

Just my hundred cents most likely not worth a buck.

Refining not for the faint of hart.
After reading the great thread on this, I tried the do small well I don't plan on living that long, yes you get stuff back each time but I got me a note pad and wrote down large compared to small for me, large is for me when I got things here ok to buy what I need.

My lack of buying has nothing to do with CC's I do a swing thing. I have many goals got a lot done, but still have a thing I work on a group till the game swings me to other priorities, I fit refining all over the place.

I find just buy/grow 10,000 of the item you want and do just that one item, I tried going back and forth from one crop to another and for me, it ate more crops. So I do one crop till I kill the little so in so. Is one harder than another? All I can say so far knock on wood none have gone over 10,000.
Getting to them right away or ok to let sit. Again for me, not matter, I have forgotten it and went to bed and some times I have a sparklie one waiting to float on up and other times game point nobody wins.
Again, just what works for me your mileage may differ.

This is probably not helpful but I have found that some crops are harder to refine than others. May just be a hit or miss thing I don't know but when I refined carnations and raspberries I got all the good refinements with only a few misses. Took me less than a week on both of them to get all I wanted and less than 5000 in crops. However refining roses is like pulling teeth for me. I've gone through about 7000 roses so far and only have two refinements and neither of them are good ones.

So I think it's just a hit or miss kind of situation. One word of advice that I believe SillyGuy imparted to me is take any refinement you get even if it's one you don't like. It is possible to keep getting the same refinement over and over so accepting it will increase your odds of getting a better one next time.

    Good Luck!

Thank you, LDCrow and mingling. If this 7th time is not a charm, then I'm going to try another crop :(. Wish I can do carnation, but I'm not that high level yet. But I'm getting there ;)

Keep trying. Some seem to be harder then others but after a while you will get what you need. I wanted the water/manure one for Carnations and by the time i got it, i had 5 others... For the first three refinements i use small pots, 4-6 i use medium and anything past that i go for large. Sometimes it seems to help to goto another crop and then come back to it.

The Refinements are the moodiest and most stubborn part of this game. There is only one way to get ahead: to be be even more stubborn! :)

I only go for the Large option whenever I Refine, usually I get 2/3 of my crop back, so the loss is not that great in the end. But it can still be a very long wait for that one wanted Refinement (I have 2 left for Raspberries after trying for years  )

Have you read Arqs brilliant "The plant refinery - A strategy guide to..." in the strategy section (I would link if I knew how to), it is packed full of helpful stuff.

Hope this will help you a little bit, stay at it and best of luck!

I am a new convert to refining and now have incorporated it into my daily routine, after checking mill and before harvesting (manually!) the Cloud Row, Farm Wheel and Fuzzy. :music:

At first, I accepted all the "negative" refinements until I got all the "positive" ones but then noticed that some of those "negatives" have some positive aspects. So now, if it is something I think I might use later, I try for it. :p

I keep no track of what I get. If I think I have not gained a refinement for a few days (and I always use the large pots, as I usually get most of the crops back), I change - my only criteria is how many of any crop I have. I am amazed how many I have got so far when I am looking through to choose another plant! :inlove:

It is a very long term goal (one I am really enjoying) - and I will attempt Turkish Melissa in the very near future so I can actually reply to the OP!:D

Off topic: my only dilemma is when to use them. I have all the good Roses refinements on constantly as I find that if I delete them, after having to pay for the privilege (not much but on principal!) I then have to wait 24 hours! But in truth I only really grow crops during events at the moment so perhaps when I have reached all my animal and product level goals, I will put some of my hard work into practice! xD

I can assure you that carnations are not necessarily better. I just used up 6 tries without a single refinement on carnation.. have yet to check the latest try. IF it does refine when you switch, it is just coincidence-- much like someone putting in a bunch of quarters in a slot machine without any win, only to watch the next user plop in 2 and win!

I think this is the best mindset to handle refining.:)

You may get lucky with a quick good refinement (I did once); but don't start the process thinking you will have a fast result. I spent quite a bit of roses and carnations before getting the refinements I desired, as an example. Still working to get even one on crop squares, spinach and raspberries! :p

Refining is definitely one of the things I wish they would revamp. I have utilized this function of the game in many ways. The most recent was getting 7 refinements from the Crop Squares during the last event. I refine at least 3 times a day, often times refining as much as 5 times a day using my SG to speed up the refinement process.

What I've learned in my time refining over a month is that it's completely random. I find that the higher value crops tend to have a better rate of finding a refinement whereas the lower value crops (Carrots, Wheat, etc) have the worst rate of refinement.

I really need to start logging my refinement information again...

I am not all that impressed by refinements, but I am far enough along that I can do a few things "just because". I definitely appreciate Mir and Arroquella's work on the subject! Refinements occasionally come in handy for events, speeding up some drops. That is about it. If they did away with it or replaced it with something else, it would definitely not break my heart, though.

Hi woody, not sure what you are referring to, I guess I have written some things about refinements, but the great strategy guide is by Arrouquelas :)

I was about to agree with every thing in this thread.
It seemed like I had tried spelt and raspberries and spinich for a month with no benefits.
Then I checked tonights batch, and I had a sparkler:D

    YES go right,
    go to the right.

Yes, got the EB for spelt. From 18:37 to 11:54 with only water.
Will come in handy for the next drop event.

Strategy seems to be threaten to give up.
Then yell at the screen to make it select the one you want.

Recharge time for this Buff, one month, but you have to keep trying for the entire month.
