Not sure if this has ever been suggested or if it is even possible but I'll put it out there:

Could there be a section in the market where older, more established farms, can put their overflow of produce up for sale for the newer players at a lower cost than what the Market price is at that moment? To make this effective and help out the newer players, it would have to be 'partially blocked' to those above a certain level (say level 40) - they will be able to put their items up for sale but unable to buy anything in that section.

The aim being that those who are willing to part with 10 apples at a cost of 20 - 60cc each (or eggs at a cost of less than 1000cc) will be able to put them up in that section and only those who are 'new' - below level 40 or whichever level they decide - will be able to buy them.

With the increase in prices for most items that are needed on a daily basis for feed, crafting, or even quests, the newer players find it very difficult to build their farms. They will still have access to the whole market (up to their level of course) but I think it will be helpful if there are those samaritans who want to help out the newer players and can 'safely' put their items up at a lower cost, knowing that someone with an older, established farm is not reaping the reward.

    Just a thought...

    Hi Brakenjan84

I gather that you are a newbie, as i am a veteran here

There are about 40 Different Markets in Farmerama, as this game is played Globally...As many things in the markets was much much cheap few years ago certainly in my 1st and 2nd year of this game. Now into my 7th year.

Yes it getting harder for Newbie to buy things in the market due to increasing costs in CC. As many things are climbing in price very very fast. One of reason for this than many farmers are buying from the markets than selling things in the markets. Sadly it is not balancing out to keep market costs down.

There are Runes and Premium Farmers that can sell things in the market for much higher price. It is not possible to Exempt Farmers above level 40 to buy cheaper prices Market Stuff so Newbies can be able to buy things at cheaper price. Exempting Farmers above level 40 to sell cheap stuff to Newbies Level 39 or less. Just will not work most Samaritions are beyond level 40 !!:)

Thanks, Mooboy. I myself am Level 84 so not quite a newbie (this is my second farm, first one I stopped because of third party issues). Altogether I've played for more than 2 years now. If it is not possible to stop those above Level 40 from buying in a certain section, then I completely understand why this can't work. I want to be one of those samaritans that help out the newbies, ;) but understand that not every suggestion works out.

    Thanks again!

Well that sounds like a good idea, and I'd be glad to partecipate, but I don't know if it can be done...
But maybe, if they are able to allow some feature after you reach a certain level, they should be able to block another feature at level 40, I think?

8)....and what a wonderful thought it is, Brakenjan!! If all farmers could sell to that Market, but only those under level 40 could have the option to buy from that Market - I think it would be a great idea!!:D And it shouldn't be difficult to limit sales to that level and under as elena516 has pointed out. Limiting by level is a fairly common practice.

WTG!!...for an idea whose time has come due to the high costs of most everything now! It might even encourage more new players to stay in the game!

Could be we could come up with something of our own; a code, if you will ... like used to see what market you are in. Seeing that numbers 23,26,28,29,33,35,36,38 and anything beyond 40 are not market number we could pick one to use in the pricing .xx that would mean this stuff is intended for newbies????? Of course we would have to get the information out there somehow, a thread. People would also be on their honor with this system... I don't know just another thought.
Would BP even allow us to do something like that or would they pull the thread if one was made, considering that to be "cheating" or something?

I like that idea FrootloopGrove. A lot of people on these forums have honor and integrity and I know the guilt of taking something intended for the newbies would eat at most, so hopefully if word got out, it could actually become a workable idea. Getting the message out to all the players would be the difficult part as a very small percentage actually check these forums and so they wouldn't know about this system. Hopefully, if enough people support the idea, a workable solution can be found. I'll continue to update/edit my post in the 'Chit Chat' area with the special for the day so that those from Market 13 (and checking these posts) will know what to look out for.

Any suggestions on how to get the word out?

I can't really see how this would be cheating, we're helping out other players and keeping their interest in the game - hopefully gaining some new long-term players.
Can the mentor system be used to help get the word out? I'm not a mentor myself, still on the waiting list so not sure if this is a workable idea or not...

If there were to be a market established for newbies, then yes the mentor system is a viable option to notify new players. However, there are drawbacks. I am a mentor and I have not had an active chick for almost 6 months but know 2 active farmers who applied to get a mentor and did not get one. One farm has already passed level 40 and the other is approaching it quickly.

Market prices are up for not only buying but selling too. Yes, things costs a lot to build a farm but it is also not difficult to make money. All players must learn their market and the trends about when and what to buy and sell. I'm not against helping young farmers get their farms going but you can be at level 40 in no time at all.

Another factor to consider is that you are proposing that newbies learn 2 markets; one under level 40 and the regular one they would automatically be assigned to. I think 'sticker (price) shock' would be hard to adjust to if they had spent a lot of time in the newbie market and then when graduating the nest, they found themselves in a market that has much higher prices. There could be a lot of confusion.

One of the things a neighbor did for me when my farm was young was to send a craft item for me to sell so I could use the proceeds to invest in my farm. This is beneficial because you are certain that the player you wish to help has the actual aid vs. the risk of listing in the market and hoping it is purchased by your target farmer.
