Are there any items that you hoard, perhaps irrationally? I started wondering because I know that lots of players have their own strategies and goals, and I was wondering whether any of you have items that you hoard, or are building up a supply of, perhaps irrationally or unnecessarily?

For me, I am building up a collection of water towers. I currently have only 17, but I want to get to 60+ so that I can completely fill my water tank every 12 hours, therefore using water on everything without worrying about the cost. I'm always checking Pirate's Cove and will snatch up any water tower I see at a discounted price, since it's unnecessary to pay full price. I say this is irrational because with 60 water tanks it will take ages for me to make up the cost of the tanks in free water.

M6 coins, currently almost 24,000. Trying to get to 1,000,000

Nothing else hoarded without defendable reason.

Only 30 water towers though. When not broke I'll buy more. :)

Inactive volcanoes. If there was a 1x2 offered in the Pirate's Cove, I'd hoard that too.

    8) LOL! Isn't that what they call 'overkill'?? I'd love to hear your 'very defendable reason'.....and I'm sure it will make good sense! Absolutely!8)o_O8) Yes! Lots of cookies for the upcoming Event?? What Market are you on?

Thank you for assisting me in rethinking my actions.

Overkill? :music: It depends. If one is holding eggs for the bakery or to meet the individual requirements of a quest then yes, this is overkill. Why would one want to hold eggs as eggs are the cheapest of all products? (Eggs have an exchange value of 300.) Remember there was a call for animals and breeding animals not too long ago. Credit for meeting the requirements was not market value but exchange value.

Here lies the absolute simplest application of exchange value use and there is much much much more. Say the market price of eggs is 60. (Exchange 300) So for every 60 ccs worth of eggs one would donate then one is given 300 in credit toward meeting the requirements. When computing a market to exchange ratio one will get 60 to 300 or 60/300 or 20%. For every 1 in market value then one will receive 20 worth of credit.

In order to donate efficiently and cheaply, one will donate the item with the lowest %. <---------------

Say an event arrives asking for 20,000 worth of products.

    At the moment:

The product which is lowest as to ratio is eggs, <------------------------------
    followed by parrot feathers,
followed by milk or peanut butter or honey.

Compute the ratio yourself and you will see why eggs.

No need to even compute angora for instance.....say its market price is 1000 with exchange of 300. Foolish to submit it ...but one can and some would. No need to compute most of them as they are so inefficient to submit. Won't even think about cookware and for the above reason.

There are lots of eggs in barns.....we cannot even see all of the listings for eggs on our markets. Complete insanity to list at such high prices. But as you can see, some do. The last event called for eggs. I was buying as others for dumping them. Not selling in that madness as the call was very small. But you let a larger call arrive and you can be sure I will sell and sell to -0- .`

Now if the developers call for a specific product then I have no choice but given the choice...... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ 8)

The above is a basic use of exchange value understanding. Without a doubt, anyone making computations and not having a complete understanding of exchange value use is not getting the most available from their analysis as they are ahead of themselves.

Overkill? I can always sell them and get something back. Meanwhile, funds are sunk. One cannot invest in every single thing available. This is a building process. There is a balancing act and leads to having 1 million of one crop and 100 thousand of another and 3000 of another and on and on. I have branched into all areas of the game with some much stronger than others.

One must begin somewhere ... and one takes more risk if one puts all their eggs in one basket. :D

Plant an egg tree? or use an egg farm? .......Fooooooooooooooor what!

    Market 40 here

    -----edit-----
Just noticed event calling for eggs and milk. There is a reason why and this is the second call for eggs in a row. I won't bother with the eggs just yet .... I'll keep an eye out on the milk but not much if anything there I feel. But if I see it then 8) $$$$$$$$$$$$

    8) Ahhhhh, farmer_broke! I cannot say how delighted I am to read your superb explanation!:D This shows me what I have been missing- the expanded application and value of EV - and I thank you for taking the time and making the effort to provide it! This is total brain candy (chocolate, of course! lol):inlove: Surely this is deserving of farmlily_worker's very first bonus...to be revealed at G&T!:music:
It also makes the point that it is correct for you to be my provider and work for me, and not the other way around:D....as you will be able to 'provide' far better than I!;)
.............Oh dear! There goes that card riffling noise again!:oops:......I think I'd better go check those locks on my bank vault...8)

farmlily3, I am so happy the explanation helped a little. And the explanation is only the beginning. Where the path leads is up to you. I see oats are needed now. Fine! 8)8) The only question I have for myself is 700,000 oats enough for me to make it though this event? :music: hmmmmm

Well what do ya know, wheat is also needed. (I'll just stay with oats for now.) Wheat is used in feed and needed for part of the event too.... ok, but let me stay with oats .... it takes 100 oats to make oat bread .......

    oh really now? 8)

So oat bread is already underpriced and oats have gone up now to over 40. .... So 100 times 40 is 4000ccs just to make it and to sell it for under 800. And wheat has gone up in price and some might even want a little oat bread to use as a buff while growing wheat.

    ohhhhhhhhhhh yeah!

I don't have a bakery but ..... I think I have over 4500 oat bread. Is that enough to sell a couple? 8)8)

Donkey feed uses 2 oats and donkey feed was selling for over 700 ccs today here.

hmmmm oooooooooooooooo k! Is 12,600 donkey feed enough to sell right now? 8)8)

Ostrich feed uses 3 oats and it was selling for over 850ccs today. Only about 900 left though

So I want to buy more ostrich feed. But I'm always broke

So Ms. Farmlily, how about a 100 CAC loan?

You send me 1 CAC for 100 days.

Then after 1 year, I will send you 1 CAC back for 100 days

    AND get this

1 Oat bread for another 100 days.

    Deal? 8)8)8)8)

    :)

(and don't tell teddy.bear! Teddy doesn't like me hustling CAC from my friends.)

8)Hahahaha! LOL! Wait a minute - wait a minute! I have to stop laughing and catch my breath!xD You only missed a few things in your 100 CAC deal...inflation!...and then there's BP's penchant for raising prices on whatever it can(Why, they could have raised the price of water 3cc's by then!) I might even have been thrown off a horse and died right there on the farm by then! :cry:LOL! Or you might have run into a low flying plane while you soared over the clouds in 'Market Vulture' mode and be dead, too.:cry:o_OWho knows??o_O xD But I loved your reasoning and the way you got there!:DIt was very educational!

Hmmmmmm.....maybe DBAYES was right when she said I should wait and see - you could turn rags to riches in a moment!
;)Yes, this may bee a Bee-u-tiful..and prosperous..venture after all. We shall see....Nice try, though!8)
