I had no plants in my fields, so I am left with 0 hooks.

 

Guess I should have looked here before blowing my first harvests' rewards - oh, well. C'est la vie!
Only another 46 games to play lol!
I haven't managed to hook a Marlin either - couple of octopis though.
I am loving the fact that we can do what we want with our fields during this event so for me it's a winner all round!

Just got a marlin from a basic fishing lure. Going to stick with the basics for the 50 games. Good luck everyone....happy fishing!!!!!

 

Yes, this is what I'm going to do, too. I won a marlin with my first try with a basic lure.

 

As far as I can tell, what you catch has absolutely nothing to do with where your circle is. I got a marlin from a barely green thing, and the next to the lowest fish when my circle was neon. Takes some pressure off.

 

30 fishing lures in the pond and 4 marlin caught. My cast has been allllll over the circle, and it does not seem to make any difference where it lands. You get whatever you get.

Normally, I use deluxe lures but this time I am using premium lures. I really like the goodies we get and the premium lures give more fish than the normal lure. I looked back at a previous fishing event and saw that I only made 43 deluxe lures so I needed to change lures to be sure I can reach the CR. I've played 16 games so far and have gotten some nice prizes of good variety. Love that we can grow what we want. I do recognize this week will be about farm layout flexibility to get the right combination of drops but that is ok with me as I have lots to do to keep me occupied.

among all of the lootable reward, I don’t want the star coin reward, because
I had all those deco as well as CR, So, my strategy for this year fishing event is:
Don’t get the prize of star coins

Edit: just use the system give lure, I catch a Marlin
the lootable prize auto come out, it give me 15SG, very good prize

When it is summer I have no idea what day it is so I missed the first day of the event Well today I started and I hope to catch the lost time because I really like this event!

Planting about 500 trees yesterday was a good move. The morning harvest provided enough discs to mill all remaining normal lures needed to fish 50 times and get the givers + CR. I have it up and running. Got very decent prizes along the way and will try to catch many more fish.
Great event, which makes up for the lousy Farmcup.

Remember that Star Coins gained here can be used in the Farmcup Shop. More goodies

thanks Moraine for discover that the star coins can be used on farm cup too.
This will make me happy when I rec’d star coin prize

 

I do not have the first CR(before my time, July 2016). None of my boxes have given star coins yet, so I am switching to Deluxe lure for more fish. Just need 135 coins, and I now have 88 from Farmcup. With 36 games played I think another 14 should be doable in the time remaining.

~edit... Ok, had my second cup-a, looked at how many fish vs number of drops for each lure.
For 1 deluxe (three fish), I can make 2 premium (four fish) or 6 fishing lures (six fish). DUH!!
I would like to know, is there a star coin advantage to using the Deluxe lure?

 

Cloud row up and running. Using regular lures made this event go really quickly and I still caught quite a few marlin. Starting to think it doesn't make much difference which lure you use or where you hit the target - you're going to get whatever random fish comes up. The only thing I noticed is you don't get mackerel very often if you use the deluxe lure.

The prizes seem to be as random as the fish caught and like catching the Marlin, the best prizes given out are as rare.

Be ready for more wonder trees, 1 at a time OR 35 Star Coins at once

I agree milling and using normal lures only really is worth it as even the mackerel prize box contains something worth having.

 

Thanks habalala, and I just hooked 30 star coins from a box. Getting closer to both CRs.
