to even express my overwhelming sadness at the tragic events in my little town this morning.

Yet another school shooting and more children and educators are dead, injured and traumatized. It has become an all to frequent and disturbing trend that has played out over and over in so many communities across the US. This morning however it was my little community.

My small, safe little town that is still primarily a farming community where most of us don't even lock our doors at night.

I am truly at a loss and still very much in shock.

:( So sorry LDC, how devastating and horrible for you, your family and your community. I can only imagine how this shook you to the core and will forever change the way you look at your little piece of heaven that you call home. Very glad you and yours are safe.

My sympathies go out to all farmers traumatized by this tragedy.

I was thinking of you this morning LDC and wondering how close you were to the events. It's hard when any of these horrible senseless killings happen but is so much worse when it's friends and neighbors. My thoughts are with you and I'm glad that at least you and your family are safe.

Thank you my dear friends. I have lived here my whole life as well as most of my family. This is beyond hard, so many lives senselessly shattered and lost in so many of our communities. We must find a way to come together and stop it. We must.

I am so sorry for you and your community.

LDCrow - I sent you a little something. No possession or thing can erase the horror and despair. I sent it to you in the hopes that when you use it and see it you will remember to stay Peaceful and Calm. That being happy and kind to others is the only way that we can achieve World Peace. It takes individual to decide to live in Harmony and not give in to anger and despair.

I am so sorry that you and those you love have to live through this.

I'm so sorry LDCrow. My thoughts are with you and your neighbors. As I am from Florida, also I have felt how it rocks the whole state. It just isn't right! We have got to somehow find the answer and put a stop to this. Hugs to you and your family.

So sad........It has happened here in my country several times. The most severe one happened on 16th December 2016.When school children as well as teachers were killed. And the Principal (female) had a chance to escape but she showed loyalty towards children (which most people lose at such a moment)said that she won't leave until all the children are at a safe place by an army help. Those people burnt her alive and made a video.

My sympathies go out to all the victims and their families.

I'm saddened by the event and sorry for you and your community. Just another thing that makes no sense & creates tremendous heartbreak.
If I were where you lived, I'd come over & hug you …. if that would be helpful.

I am sorry to hear about the incident.
I can understand how you feel because it was so in my grandfather's village. But now it has changed and I miss the old village. It had a more sensse of belonging and trust & love. Now my village misses it.

Can I say something? It is education and lack of love to blame. I live in the USA. I see this as a daily basis it seems like. What I don't like is when kids do it. USA has so many race issues you can not ever count that high. Its about race. Bullying was way before my time. I been bullied. Kids today is bullied.. No one listens to kids..Kids tommrow is and will be bullied...No one will listen.. No one will step up and stop it.. 5 years from now. Kids will be bullied.. How? cause people have to much hate. They teach hate to thier kids. Schools is to blame also at times.. maybe check what is really taught in schools.

    Hello LD and many others.

While scanning much of what was written here and in other venues relating to this subject around the world, in order to assemble a viable solution I could not, cannot now and should not in the near future allow myself to feel any loss whatsoever. And I do not.

Simply, based upon the relatively recent actions displayed by our civilization: What less would one expect to occur?

LCD, hope you are feeling better by now.

Something to think about... When one's home is broken into... one is always asked what they took. We list the material things, that's all the cops care about. But the bigger problem is the violation, the vulnerability we feel. The feeling that the rug has pulled out from under us. We tend to lose our balance. We search for answers in an attempt to regain our grounding. It takes time. Eventually we find a way to feel safe again. We have to! Life goes on whether we want it to or not. We just have to decide whether or not we are going to participate, and to what extent. When one's home is broken into one might put better locks on.
I recently reread "A Handmaid's Tale"... Nolite te bastardes carborundorum. We have to be careful to not build the walls too tall, or they win! Of course, it's important to take a moment to grieve, etc. We just can't afford to wallow in it. We need to get angry until there's a change.

There is no simple solution to this problem. It is multi-faceted, not a simple problem. If we do nothing, nothing will change. We can try to hermetically seal the schools but there is nothing to stop someone from lying in wait outside the school. The first known school mass murder was in California many years ago. Outside an elementary school as it was letting out. We need to deal with the bigger problems in a humane way.
It seems like every time I hear one of these stories I find myself thinking of some of futuristic sci-fi films that I've seen. Wish I give list a title but my lousy memory... Pretty sure Mel Gibson was in one of them... Sometimes I have to take a news "fast", usually every weekend. It just gets to be too much and too depressing sometimes.

I've been thru too many traumas to recount. One thing I've learned that helps me is volunteer work. In this case one might reach out to the victims families and ask if there is anything one can do to help. Not everyone has family or friends to help them. It helps to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem...
