IGM - In Game Messages

This may not be an appropriate place to post this message, but I just thought I'd share because I read a recent post by Northy regarding an abusive IGM.

I just received an 'unkind' IGM from someone I never heard of and have never seen post to the Forum. I have no intention of replying to their message and have blocked the sender. My sincere wish for them is to be able to find joy in their life, as I assume they are a very bored or unhappy someone.

When we can feel thankful, despite challenging circumstances, we have no need to disparage others. Every person has their own situation, so isn't it wise not to assume things about others when we have no knowledge of their life. I believe kindness and a willingness to listen to, and respect others, is always better than lashing out.

I also received a very unkind igm yesterday from a player I've never heard of. It was so mean, it has bothered me ever since.

 

Brookeham, you should not be bothered or upset by this person. You are not alone, many of us received something similar, some worse than others. I agree with MeadowCrossing that it is better not to enter into a dialogue with them, blocking them stops them coming back. Some of us have reported it and it is being dealt with. Block them and keep the IGMs in case they will be needed by Support.

While I agree with MeadowCrossing that, without knowing the circumstances that made this person send such unpleasant messages to complete strangers, it is hard to know what their intention was but I also think that some people just like to shock/hurt/upset others because they can do it behind the safety of a computer. The IGM I received was pretty childish, a bit of name calling, and I wonder if it may be a younger player (or not even a player) who has stumbled onto our game and decided to ambush it and cause a lot of grief.

I am sure they will soon get bored and move on to annoy somebody else but in the meantime, just ignore them.

 

I know it is distressing to receive messages that are abusive. I encourage you to block the player in the Post Office so that no further communication can be received. Please contact Support so that the situation can be investigated and handled appropriately in accordance with Terms and Conditions. Please do not delete the messages in the Post Office so that they can be used by the Support Team.

 

Hello Mod, sorry for texting on someone else's thread.
Even I am not alone in this. I have also received such abusive IGMs from a player, and honestly, the words used were really disturbing and unacceptable. I don't know how to share the screenshot here, otherwise I would have shared it.
It's quite hurtful, and I have been disturbed since yesterday. I really don't know how to report such behaviour or what action can be taken. For now, I have just blocked that player.
I just wanted to bring this to your notice because such language and behaviour are really not acceptable.
