    The photographer was positioning my new husband and me for
our wedding photos when he asked, “Have you ever modeled?”
    My cheeks instantly turned red. “No, I haven’t,” I said. “But I always thought …”
    The photographer interrupted me: “I meant him.”

    One joke from my side...
    Once there lived a wealth man and his wife in a town.One day the man came home sadly.On seeing this his wife came to him and said "You can take my diamond ring and sell it in the market to get money for your business.On hearing this the man started crying.So his wife said "You have brought me this.When your business became set then you bring me this ring again.So the man said "I'm not crying on your generosity,I'm crying because this ring is not real."
    Hope you all like this.:D

    How much money did Darlene start with?

    Franklin lent Darlene as much money as she already had, then she spent $10. The next day, Franklin lent her as much money as she now had and again, she spent $10. On the third day, Franklin once again lent her as much money as she now had and she spent $10, leaving her broke. How much money did Darlene start with? Express result in the accuracy of 2 decimal.

    @Elemeef and @12ss12, I thought that too but... The answer is 16... So it says from where I took the joke :oops:
    So is it 8.75? Or is it 16? :wuerg::p;)xD
    Meanwhile, let's have some delicious chocolate! :inlove::D

    Thanks for the chocolates. Loved them.

    initial money that Darlene had = x
    money lent by Franklin =x
    so 1st day money = x+x=2x
    money at end of day = 2x-10

    2nd day money (her balance money + money given to her) = 2x-10 + 2x-10 = 4x-20 ......out of which she spent 10 $
    Therefore her balance on 2nd day = 4x-20 -10 = 4x-30

    3rd day money (her balance money + money given to her) = 4x-30 +4x-30 = 8x-60
    balance after spending 10$ on 3rd day is = 0 (as she became broke after spending third day)
    that is,
    8x-60-10 = 0
    8x-70 =0
    8x=70
    x=70/8

    x= 8.75

    or just the equations alone,
    x+x =2x
    2x-10

    2x-10+2x-10=4x-20
    4x-20-10
    4x-30

    4x-30
    4x-30+4x-30
    8x-60
    8x-60-10 =0
    8x-70=0
    8x=70
    x=70/8 =8.75

    Here's the deal ;)

    money at end of day (2x-10) = y
    2nd day money (her balance money + money given to her) = 2x-10 + 2y-10 =

    I am not good at maths. :oops:Only logic. So I didn't want to confuse with too much variables. The answer is right is it not ? I checked it several times before posting.

    Your answer is right one-two. I think habalala was just correcting the formula you used to get to the answer. Here's an easy way to find the answer to this one:
    The starting amount is what we need to know. Let's call it "a".
    a = ?
    2a - 10 = b
    2b - 10 = c
    2c - 10 = 0
    Since we know 0 is equal to 2c - 10, we would start there to determine the value of c, and then the value of b, and finally the value of a.
    c= 5 b= 7.5 a= 8.75
    I never really liked math either, but I have to teach it sometimes. :sleepy:

    Edit: I am aware that this problem can be solved using only one variable, however I was attempting to show a very simple way to find the solution by breaking the problem down into smaller parts. ;)

    Thanks poppy. You teach maths ! That must be interesting. You put the answer in a simple manner. So simple. May be give us more sums like these and make us strong in maths. May be you & habalala, can start a new thread. :D What you say ?

    I like maths. But not strong in it. As a matter of fact I like all subjects. I very often make some silly mistakes or get struck in middle of a problem. So usually my marks were around 90s and never 100.

    Here are some chocolates of bygo_chris, for you and habalala.

    Thank you all for solving the problem. I was never strong at math, and honestly, I never liked math.I also thought the answer is 8.75, but then I've seen the answer on the page under the joke, and it was 16. I was thinking, maybe I made a mistake(since I'm not strong at math). I didn't even bother to check it again. I should trust myself more, and check again next time. Don't give up so easy.
    Maybe the answer was the joke :wuerg:

    It's true that chocolate helps us to memorize better. I was always eating chocolate while studying for tests, and it's working well.
