Lack of drop items.

I am getting significantly fewer drop items on this event than in the past. Reviewing the drops, it seems that not all my fields are giving event drop items.

I now have over 3000 Jute, but harvesting ALL of my fields this morning only gave me 29 Santa hats. Harvesting the same quantities last night yeilded quite a bit more.

I am now planting and replanting some quick growing non-event plants, to see if I can get a few more event items, so that total may grow (hopefully it will), but its nothing like what I have gotten in the past... nor does it seem to be on a par with what others are getting (though that is hard to say for sure, since there are so many variables involved.


EDIT/UPDATE -- harvested my entire magical Glade planted with lettuce and got NO hats or presents. Harvested half of my green meadow and still not hats or presents. Harvested Magical Glade again, this time with roughly 1/3 wheat, 1/3 hay and 1/3 carrots. I got 183.65 EP, but no hats or presents. I harvested my entire Baha area, planted with sugarcane and got 180 EP, but no hats or presents.

I'm not surprised you got no drops from lettuce, low level crops give very few drops, maybe 1 every few time you harvest and entire field. Drop rates are based on various factors (that the devs do not share with us) but generally the longer a crop or animal takes to grow the higher the chance of drops is. The drop is random also, so you will not get the same number of drops from repeatedly planting the same crop.

This is not a strategy issue. I have followed the same basic strategy of many others and my results are far, far less. I tried the lettuce, etc more or less just to test.
The thing is I got nothing at all from harvesting 2 fields FULL of Jute this morning. This afternoon, now, I am getting drops again. Whatever happened this morning seems to have been fixed, but Santa hats are the only thing I need to finish and it seems more than a little strange that I am so far behind just on that one item.

Also, these drops are not actually random. At best they might be stratified random, but they are based on the amount of items we sow., even if they are not sharing the exact formula, it is a somewhat regular formula. (sorry to be technical, but misuse of the word "random" is a pet peeve of mine, for some good reasons).

 

I'm sorry but as I said, we are not privy to the formula for drops, I wouldn't be able to tell you if they are stratified, so there is not a lot more help I can offer. Random means a random chance of drops, it can be anything from zero up to the max, so no drops is indeed possible.

You are saying that getting absolutely no drops from 3 fields with over 2,000 Jute harvested, is perfectly normal and not a reason for concern?

 

Frustrating maybe, but as the mods have told you, there is a random chance of drops. It's not concerning that you're getting no drops because it's not an issue, irrespective of how annoying it may be.

Planting the very low level crops that you planted (lettuce, carrot, hay) it's, as you have been told, not at all surprising that you got no drops. Even getting one drop from those crops is very rare.

Also, I believe you were directed to the strategy threads to see if you could find any strategies on increasing drop rate.

I have checked your drop logs - I cannot see what kind of crops they came from, only the time stamp, but they seem pretty even. This might not help, but I can tell you that I harvested my 3 fields of Jute and I got less than 29 Santa Hats.

If you could tell me approximately the time of the harvests you wish to have investigated further, I will post the logs for you.

Thank you for responding. 29 for 3 fields does seem to be on a par with my return. So, my return might be more or less "standard". What concerned me was that it seemed that I got nothing from 2 fields at all. (not sure about the third), but mostly drops from Baha. It took me aback because I got reasonable rates, I thought, earlier in the event and then it seemed to drop, an then drop again. However, the first bit included Moonlight Mania crops, so I am guessing that the return rate for those was a lot higher than for the jute.

I am still not sure I will finish the event, but at least it does not seem to be a technical glitch. If you want to try and track it down, it
was this morning, between about 4:50AM and 5:20AM Eastern (US time). However, I am not sure you will be able to glean anything else..

The drops seem pretty ok, and quite even too - 5 Santa Hats less, but overall you need 100 more Holiday Presents, so it appears to be balanced. Even though, we have to remember the randomness factor. I have looked over you other harvests as well and the drops don't seem to be missing from any of them, so I am not sure what happened. Is it possible that it was just a display glitch? Or have you donated the drops as you were getting them? I could also add up all the drops you've earned / received as gifts / bought to see if they add up to your current total.

Thanks for your attention teddy bear. Seems I either misread or the data was displayed wrong when I looked. Also, it seems this event was just a much, much lower producer than other events, for a variety of reasons.

I know better for next time.....
