Any news from the vet about confirmation if the cancer has returned? More tests needed? How is Marly? Recovering ok from surgery? Warm thoughts are with you and your fur babies.

The first dog we loved thru his cancer, Ben, had a sarcoma in his rear leg. We didn't know he had anything wrong, just thought he was old and stiff (he started dragging his hind quarter). By the time we realized something more was going on, there was nothing we could do to save him, but had we known earlier, amputation may have given us a few more years of his incredible presence (he was a one of a kind dog (who truly thought he was human, lol), we miss him still). Since then, I've become paranoid about anything that seems out of the ordinary with our dogs, wanting to run them to the vet every time I thought they were sick (when Kam was a baby, he wouldn't drink water unless he was really thirsty. I thought it was because our water sometimes doesn't taste that good, so I'd put a little milk in it to get him to drink. Then he started throwing up all the time, and I was convinced he had parvo, so I took him to the vet. Turns out he was just lactose intolerant :oops:xD. No more milk, no more vomit. :wuerg:). Talk frankly and openly with your vet, ask about the chances of recurrence if you amputate, and if he feels the odds are good that this will stop the cancer, I personally wouldn't hesitate. Don't let him equivocate, tho, make him give a firm opinion. Please keep us updated on your girl, we all care about both of you.

thank you spots im really sorry for your loss :( my vet thinks that she would be ok with amputation because right now its only in her leg its not attached to any bones or anything and he said her heart and lungs look and sound really good I believe that's what ill do if he still thinks everything is ok, other than her leg. I cant imagine my life without her we are so close :inlove::inlove: and I cant see putting her down when the only thing bad is her leg she is still eating, drinking and going potty good and she wants to jump and run but of course I don't let her do that for obvious reasons. Marly and I really appreciate all the love, prayers, thoughts and hugs and support we are getting!!!!!! :inlove::inlove: from everyone on here. :inlove::inlove:

Thank you Marlymar, Ben left us in 2002, but you never stop missing the special ones. :inlove: I'm glad your vet feels Marly's odds are good. Strong heart and lungs will help her heal faster after surgery, too. And there's no reason she can't go back to being active and happy with 3 legs; there's a 3 legged min-pin down the street from me who thinks he's the baddest boy on the block, but anything intimidating about him is outweighed by his sheer adorableness xD.

:(:(:wuerg::wuerg: Marlys cancer is coming back :( I have been using turmeric in her food twice a day and a turmeric and honey paste on her leg it has slowed it down but its still bothering her cause the small tumor that's coming back is splitting like when your hands get dry and crack and bleed that's what her tumor is doing she goes in , in the morning to see the vet again I hope he can do something to help her :(:cry:I know everything happens for a reason but I really don't understand why this is happening to such a sweet defenseless girl :oops::cry::cry::(:(

So sorry Marly:(:cry:Maybe the surgery will keep it from spreading further. She will have some adjustments being a 3 legged dog but she can still be a happy girl. My thoughts and prayers are with you and her.

I think the turmeric is eating away at the cancer it looks like it is and the lump is bleeding ( ALOT ) she goes in to the vet for him to check her progress today I will let you know how things go I hope its good news I don't think I can deal with bad news at this point  Thank You PUPS :inlove:

I hope that the Vet can help Marly even if it means amputation. As pnp said many dogs cope very well being 3 legged. Will be thinking about you and her.

UPDATE: we just got back from the vet and while we were in the waiting room part of her tumor fell off :) the vet said that's good that means the turmeric IS working :inlove: he cleaned it up and told me to keep doing what im doing :) he is going to try this for a couple of months if it works great if not then we will talk about amputation she has to go back next Friday and he is going to try and freeze it to see if that helps stop the tumor from growing also he said in his 14 years of practice he has NEVER seen a tumor like marly has and its SOOO aggressive :( thank you all for your love and support and prayers please keep the prayers and good thoughts coming :inlove:
MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone:inlove::inlove:;)

I hope that you have a Happy Christmas and that you can stay positive about Marly. I know how difficult that must be for you but at least the Vet sounds as though he is pleased with what you are doing for her. Take care.
