I would like to see you offering paired events.. one for newer players and one for the more advanced players. If you have a particularly difficult event, I can even see a third, middle level tier.

This event would differ from the permanent quests in that it would appear occasionally. You could vary the prizes a tad, to match current needs (for example, changing what pens or trees, etc are offered). You could potentially limit the level of those who can play, but I think that would cause a lot of dissent/hard feelings. Instead, I would suggest just setting a limit to the number of times people can complete this event... once, or maybe once until its modified, etc. (maybe once every 3 or 6 months -- you can do this just by modifying the event slightly at that point).

I see a lot of new players being quite frustrated by difficult events. This is normal, but what has changed is that you are offering more events and more difficult events. This is good for long term players, but makes it seem much more difficult for beginning players to "see the light at the end of the tunnel." Simply offering easier events is a tad boring for everyone else and leads to offering way too many events back-to-back besides. Having paired events would be better than 2 or 3 independent events. Also, if they are paired, then people are less likely to complain about not being able to redo the easy event (once they have finished it).

The down side, and it IS a big one, is that we are already seeing server issues when you have mini events with special events. (aka Renzo, etc.) Still, I think it would be a good goal to try and implement when you can.
