New Baby reindeer to my herd

At this time of year it is a bit manic... so not much time to take good photo's as we are on the "sharp end"... but I rehash old photo's to help venues promote our appearances at their events..
Not sure you have seen this old one of Lexi on her day of birth - if you have sorry.

 

Awww....Lexi was such a gorgeous newborn girl! Who could ever tire of seeing her sweet face?

I hope during your "manic" time....you remember to take a breather once in a while and relish the beauty of your herd...and how much people appreciate them....and you!

 

Oh thanks.. finding this for Welford I also found so many others of babies in their first few days...
Does anyone know how I can share them easily, straight from my computer. So far I have had to share by copying and pasting from their FB page... but there must be an easier way... ???

 

If there is an easier way, it is well hidden in this forum. Every explanation I found seems to be in English, but looks Greek to me. You talk about Sleep Til Christmas. Do you ever get any? If you are too busy there are 106 pages of wonderful memories to wander through, complete with pictures. Please get some rest. Take care of you! We all love to see your pictures, past or present. And if there is an easier way to post them, Yay!!! All us computer challenged farmers would love to know.

 

This forum does not host pictures so your pictures must be uploaded somewhere else on the internet. Once you have your picture uploaded somewhere else, you need a URL for that picture to then link to the photo icon here. Uploading elsewhere varies so instructions are not all encompassing. Photos must be "public" in order for the link to work. Sorry.

 

Oh that's bad news Noellle... but it's what I thought but it means if I find one "you" may like... ie relevant to a conversation. I have to find a way to put it on their FB page in order to share..
Never mind, I will share a few from time to time of what I post on their FB page...

This evening we did a large school Xmas Fayre - no pictures as a school but the lovely side was we had a long time FB follower that guessed the reindeer advertised maybe our herd - she took a chance, and drove a long way to meet them ... and it was us!!

How wonderful for that FB fan to "take a chance" and find you and your wonderful reindeer! That is so exciting for both of you!

 

Well now I know what the name Freya means.....the Norse Goddess of love. It was a clue on my crossword puzzle today! I do the daily crossword to stave off my mind going to mush. LOL I do the old way...with a pencil.
I am also computer challenged....so no pic's from me either.

Oh thank you Brooke - I just thought it meant Friday's child but I'll take Goddess of Love any day.

We've just returned home 10:30pm from an evening booking (only 2 hours for reindeer) but 6 1/2 for us with grooming, travelling set up etc... I'm getting too old for late nights - always need a few hours to unwind and then feel like pooh in the morning!! Never mind a day off for all tomorrow.
Just an aside to parents/grandparents... am I allowed to box the odd child's ears?
Tonight has been the second time this year that a child has poked Boris in the eye. We are on high alert all the time but most of our energy goes into making sure children don't put their faces too close to the antlers in case, for some reason, the reindeer move their heads. Tonight was a totally out of control child which ran from one reindeer to the other poking and prodding - I spoke to the child kindly telling him the correct way to stroke animals, when that didn't work I asked his grandmother if she could try to help as he had already poked Boris in the eye. Nightmare child! All this while other lovely kids were stroking. Nightmare child could have put other children at risk as he was stressing reindeer... grandparent got huffy when I asked her to take control... Some people will never understand that animals are not just pieces of furniture - moan over!!! Well for today, anyway...

Just another daytime snapshot (Mischa) to make post more interesting.

 

Some people just cannot control children/grandchildren and get upset when you question their ability. Keep doing what you are doing and disregard the "huff". Your energy needs to be directed to keeping Boris (and the others) safe.

 

You are a better/kinder person than I would have been to that "nightmare child"! I would have banned him from touching the reindeer altogether. Or.....a naughty me...would have poked him(maybe not in the eye)...and said How do you like it? LOL I'm so juvenile when it comes to being kind to animals.(Overly protective I guess). And Grandma got huffy? Yep....banned!!!

Oh so sorry you and your reindeer have to put up with ignorant adults ( that is why the child is out of control)!! This just ruins it for everyone! So sad , but that seems to be the way the world is going!
Children are not brought up to have manners or respect others feelings! I am a mother and a grandmother

I withdrew Boris from "stroke duty" just Mischa on strokes, as he became understandably very worried about any hand reaching towards him apart from ours, that he trusts.. but maybe this one out of control child might have frightened him for this year... or maybe forever?? Who knows.. I will have to withdraw him now from anything but very low stress events, until I can build his confidence..
With a bit of luck I have a few "low level" events coming up and maybe I can take him and let him just look on without facing kids unless HE wants to... Who knows..

 

Do you have a sign up at the entrance saying you reserve the right to remove anyone from the reindeer display for any reason? Might be a worthwhile addition if you don't. Sorry you had to go through that.

 

We take our babies to venues, public don't come to us... OR today I'd have a massive padlock on gate!!..

 

Whoever runs the venue should have a sign with that statement. It's the least they can do.

 

I totally agree with what Brookeham and Sanddollar have said. I too would have felt like poking the little horror, somewhere it hurt! I do hope that Boris has not been frightened by this horrible child too much. As for his grandmother's reaction she should have known better. It is no wonder the child is so out of control if the adults in his life have that sort of attitude.

 

I was just at a local town's Christmas walk and they had two reindeer on display for everyone to enjoy looking and taking pictures of them. How they handled all the people near them is they had a double fence around them. The second fence being a couple feet away from the other. Unfortunately we could not touch them but at least they were safe. The reindeer wanted to get near us. They kept trying to get their head thru the fence. They were very calm but they didn't have the pretty Christmas harnesses yours have.
