Great family photo!:inlove: Hector, although with a shabby coat, looks wonderful as he has gained what
looks like a lot of weight. He was sooo thin after rut! I think Freddy is just such a beautiful baby, for me even if he was third in line, he would still be amazing, with that face and those beautiful eyes!:inlove:
How is Lotte doing these days? I hope she is getting stronger and feeling better!:inlove:

Lotte has turned the corner wonderfully since she has passed her placenta, still a little normal discharge (not smelly) but now she isn't having to strain from time to time she is bouncing back to normal.. I will take photo's tomorrow of her for all who are worried.
I am a firm believer in leaving a dead calf with their mother until she walks away. It may seem grim but it helps them move on (grieving process and the contractions stopping once placenta delivered is another milestone) or otherwise she would be looking for it for weeks.

Not grim at all if you think about it. If she had her still born out away from humans and let nature run its course it would probably happen just as you are doing it! BUT I am glad Lotte and your herd has you to run interference for them in case of an emergency!:) I am glad she is doing better and I hope you are also!

Just done the last check before dark and took my camera specifically to capture Lotte for all who were worried and posted a random on their FB page in order to share on here ;) ... Hope it puts your minds at rest.... She is recovering. :)

Thank you, and I may be reading way too much into this, BUT to ME there is a sadness in her eyes that makes you just want to hug her and tell her everything will be alright in time!

I see that too Sanddollar, but she is so much better than she was. My heart broke for her when she was contracting to deliver her placenta... She was hoping every contraction would bring the baby she craved.
They do grieve, they are pretty intelligent, loving beasties. I had hoped to put your minds at rest that she is recovering.. but she really is far better than she was. It will take time but it isn't as bad as it was... :(

That beautiful little lady will have many lively babies to chase... A Long Line of Little Lottes! :)
This was her first, and they are usually the difficult ones.

8)Thank you for the photos of Lotte, Karen. Her eyes do have a sadness in them, but it just makes us love her more.
I agree with all that has been said, and couldn't have said it better, so will just say Thank You again.:inlove:

When I say the highlight of my day was finally assembling my new knapsack sprayer, you will guess no new babies! :( Said sprayer had good reviews except for assembly instructions and boy were they right!
Picture of Freddy, bit blurred I am afraid, but when he's chasing jackdaws, he moves a bit too quickly! (he doesn't seem to like them) :)

He is leaving Mischa quite a lot now, getting himself into trouble chasing the big reindeer too- Boris boxed him earlier :(
    But here's a cute still.

I bet he reminds you of someone else when he was that age!

Yes, Freddy is going to be a handful!xD He is just so beautiful running after jackdaws (what are they)
or not! Love, love that cute still! Assembling a knapsack sprayer is kind of like sitting watching the grass grow!xDxD Not any fun at all! I do hope you got it sorted though!;)

Sanddollar, jackdaws are big, black birds. I don't blame Freddy for not liking them. I am sure they can seem quite intimidating to a baby reindeer!

Thank you Karen and Lilaclady for letting me know what jackdaws are! See, nothing in nature goes to waste from lining nests to pinching food!;) I think they are a rather pretty bird! Thanks for the photo!

I think Freddy is playing with the birds, much like kids chasing pigeons. It's a big game to him as he has no friends his age. I wonder what he will do when they come?

He looks like he's having fun chasing the birds in the action shot. Can almost see the speed lines at his feet like they draw in cartoons.
