New Baby reindeer to my herd

He does NOW!!!!
Twiglet gave birth 45 minutes ago.. It's a strong brown calf, as yet no sex or weight known as Twiglet always needs a couple of hours bonding time before I interfere - so I've come away, I hate this time. They both look well, so they need quiet time for the next couple of hours. Time for my bonding later.
Mischa and Katya are different, they seem to appreciate sharing their calves.

I will update sex and weight in a couple of hours.

IT'S a GIRL. 4.72 kg (10.4lbs). I've had to withdraw again as I think Ana has started too and she definitely won't get on with it if anyone is about! I have left my camera in "calving bucket" in field, in my excitement. So you will have to wait for pictures of her dry, feeding and wandering about.

 

Congratulations, BoHoKaren! He/she looks so tiny, it's amazing to think that in just a handful of days they'll be zooming around like Freddy is.

 

Way to go Twiglet! Another bud for the family tree lol.

Such happy news this Sunday morning from across the pond! Congratulations on a new baby girl and praying
baby and mum are strong and healthy! Hoping all goes well with Ana too! Looks like it might be a busy time for you Karen. I can't wait for all the babies to be strong enough to start running and bonding with each other..such fun to watch!

Here she is now that she's dry. Similar markings to Freddy but darker and another very strong baby. She's already done a lap of the large corner paddock (in two goes) following her mother to water trough and then into shade as it was quite warm today. Pretty steady on her feet already.
Ana MAY be a false alarm but I think she is holding off till nightfall as she is a nervous girl and even more so at calving time.. She's gone back to quietly grazing. We'll see.



I have some cracking photo's of Freddy today but haven't posted "elsewhere" yet so can't upload. I'll either post again here or edit later.

 

Again all I can say is "just beautiful"! Hector has done himself proud so far! I am amazed at how strong these babies are right after birth, it shows what great stock they are coming from..great job Karen! Fingers crossed for Ana and looking forward to more great news!

 

She is gorgeous. Sounds as though she will be in competition with Freddy! Hope all goes well with Ana.

Awww, how sweet is little Freya, I think she is dreaming of "Big Girl" antlers this season!
Freddy looks like he is getting lighter, but those are great pictures..thank you!

Ana has just calved. Another brown baby! Sex and weight unknown - Ana needs quiet time before I interfere. Baby not as active as Freddy and Twiglet's calf were at birth but I'm not overly worried as they were live wires.

 

Congratulations Ana (and Karen) on another lovely baby.

 

How wonderful, hopefully another healthy baby and mom! Ana just needed some quiet time to get her baby born (bless her)! Congrats to all! Can't wait to see this little one up and about!
