New Baby reindeer to my herd

Hey, not a miracle as she's been with me for 2 years now but lovely that (as a previous wild animal) she now chooses to lay beside me. I just feel honoured that she seems want to be with me but I think it is only because she thinks I keep the predators at bay... but we don't have those predators in UK... Poor girl, she thinks I am keeping her safe...

 

She knows what is good for her!

 

Oh Karen, you do not give yourself nearly enough credit for ALL you do to get their trust, and
along with that comes love! And yes you do give them food, and in a sense protect them with all the meds and things you do for them! And in nature it is NOT a perfect world and even though you give them the best food and vet care and meds when they need it things do go wrong! But make no mistake your herd does love and trust you of that I am sure!

 

Karen - I agree with sanddollar; you have won their hearts and trust with your kindness and care.
That was such a grand photo of Katya! She is a beautiful girl.

Scott & Elaine have arrived after a 10 1/2 hour journey South.
Tomorrow they will load up a very precious cargo... Freddy and Storm... I am feeling bereft already but I know they will have a wonderful forever home.
I will forever remember them as my babies, even though it will embarrass them forever!

 

Two beautiful photos of two very beautiful babies, they had a wonderful dad! I wish Storm and Freddy a very safe journey to their new home.

 

What beautiful baby pictures of Freddy and Storm! Being Hectors boys, I just wish there had been some way you could have kept one, if only for a year or two! I do know they are going to a wonderful farm and I hope they all have a safe journey home! And for you Karen, you know we are all reaching out and holding your hand, so you are not alone!

They are still en route (another couple of hours to go) but travelling very well. They explored box, ate then laid down napping and chewing cud. Wonders of modern technology the horse box the Jones' hired has a CCTV link to watch them the entire journey - who needs TV

 

Well Karen, they sure do look like they are very relaxed and enjoying their journey! That is just amazing that they have that CCTV link to keep an eye on how well they are doing! Brilliant! I am
glad that at least they get to go together!

 

Sandollar, to be honest that was a major issue as to letting Freddy go. I had promised Freddy but also couldn't really cope with Storm doing the long journey alone... Storm needed a buddy, not just the journey but he needs a buddy once he arrives as the older reindeer may give him a hard time. Mind you in the enclosed environment with CCTV Elaine says little Storm is bossing Freddy dreadfully... but at least the are on a closer par!

 

I just think Freddy is just letting Storm think he is boss till this trip is over! Lol But it is good they will be together!

 

It is wonderful that there is a CCTV link so that the Jones can make sure everything is OK on their long journey, they do certainly look relaxed. It is also great that Storm will have a buddy when he gets to his new home. He is probably making the most of "being the boss" while he can, bless him!

 

Dodgy picture as they arrived in thier new home after dark. They are being kept penned up overnight so that Elaine can monitor integration with rest of herd in daylight..

 

Awww! They look so small in their big pen. Brave though!

They seem to be looking at each other and thinking......"we aren't in Kansas anymore". I'm so glad they have each other.
Karen you are so generous and thoughtful to send them in pairs. Certainly Hector is looking down from heaven and smiling.

 

Such a great idea to send them together for moral support! Glad they handle the trip nicely.

 

They have a couple of cousins? Uncles? (Thor and Loki) waiting to show them the ropes. As a matter of fact, Thor and Loki will be happy to relinquish the title 'Babies of the Bunch'.
