New Baby reindeer to my herd

Millie is trying to re-locate her roost!!! You better show her who's the boss....or at least the door!

 

Well you're clearly very good at training dogs...so now you obviously need to train the chicken!

 

Usually I would be cross with myself at missing the last harvest of and event and spending the coins I'd saved but not today. I was on maternity duty!

Twiglet has had a baby girl (4.8kg/10lbs 9oz). Not great photos as she was only just born but just to wet your appetite.. Katya will be very soon too and with a very big calf I think!

Edit, thought I'd include a picture of the proud daddy Frodo. He looks scruffy due to being well ahead in annual moult BUT his body condition looks so much better now.

Awww, what a sweet baby girl! Congratulations to you and Twiglet and Frodo, who by the way looks amazing (body weight)! As you said his coat is molting and he really does look scruffy!

 

For some reason bonding process included toe sucking??? To be wicked, I may call baby Fergie, as she didn't seem to mind (may be a joke that only UK followers would appreciate).
Twiglet has now had 5 calves, all girls. Maybe she wanted a boy and is trying to eat it?? Heehee.

Never witnessed this before but calf didn't seem distressed so Twig must just be sucking leg!

 

Karen I'm in the US and I know about Fergie, poor woman it must have made it around the world! I can't believe Twiglet, as it looks like she is having a leg sandwich without the bread! lol It really does look strange! I love the color of this little one I hope it does'nt change too much!

 

Awww congrats Karen! So happy you have a beautiful little calf on the ground! Good job Twiglet and Frodo!!!

Just a thought but is Twiglet maybe cleaning off the deciduous hoof capsule that newborn calves/kids/foals have? If not then maybe she's just making sure to clean really well between Fergie's toes

Great pic of Sir Frodo... scruffy or not, we can see he has meat on his bones now! And by the look of his new antlers, he will have a pretty impressive rack this time. What a bunch of TLC and exceptional nutrition will do for an animal, huh? Congrats to you, in so many ways.

 

Think you are right Peeps about her removing hoof tissue but I have never seen this before and leg disappeared half way to hock. It just looked so odd.

 

LOL, yes what a crazy thing to see to such an extreme ... just when ya think you've seen it all lol. It must have been already dried/hardened and couldn't be nibbled off, so she had to soften it up or use a little (gentle) molar action on it lol. Too funny that you snapped a pic of it, timing is everything

Willow, how about a video of Twiglet introducing to some of the herd.. It was so cute her previous 3 baby girls (Lotte, Lexi & Tigga) were the most intrigued, although Tigga saying hello is not on video.



Peeps, I doubt if they had dried as toe sucking picture was about 10 minutes after birth - just over enthusiastic maybe...
