New Baby reindeer to my herd

Exciting news. A Reindeer born in Alaska....
First reported reindeer birth that I have seen so far this year. And yet again George is the first and his babies are always massive!
Congratulations George and Flea. xx

We have to wait a few more weeks. BUT they are in their little incubators!

Thanks Karen, both baby and mum look great! Such happy news!

 

No calves imminent as udders aren't bagging yet, but lots of lumpy tummies with kicking babies.
It won't be too long now though.

The boys' new antler's have really started to grow now.
Picture, my handsome young bull Gandalf (rising two) and father to 5 prospective calves. AND not long to wait now for all those tiny hooves. 5 babies Gandalf, 4 babies Frodo and one to Finn.
Eeek, I can't wait even though it will be a worry with so many first time mothers.

 

What lovely antlers Gandalf has!!!! I can't wait for more news of babies to come!!!!

 

Gandalf is quite the young man! Also eager for the news of little ones; first thing I do on the forum lately is check here!

 

Gandalf really is a very handsome young man, and I bet he knows it lol! I also can't wait until we get news of those tiny hooves appearing

 

My lazy lumps. Gravid girls, spending most of their time snoozing (Boris on guard).
Their hard feed isn't being taken as much but then they are browsing the wonderful lush tree growth and the grass is nutritious now.
I still think Twiglet will be the first to calve this year? (another female calf?), her tummy isn't large but her udder is developing faster than Mischa and Katya. Pretty sure Katya has a male Monster on board again but thinking first week of May for her. Mischa must be late April/early May as shes huge, I wouldn't guess sex of calf as to be honest she is a chunky girl anyway..
Won't be long now for babies to hit the ground. Exciting and scary too with so many first time mothers.

 

Bless Boris for always being the "Guard Reindeer" if you will! Good the mums to be are resting now for in a few short weeks it will ALL be very different! Fingers crossed all will be well with new, and older mums alike! Happy healthy babies and happy healthy mums! equals less stress for you Karen!

 

I agree sanddollar! The pregnant mommies need their rest now! Plus with such big tummies...its a lot of extra weight on their thin legs. You gotta love Boris....always being in protection mode!

 

Boris is such a good man, making sure all the expectant mums are ok while they are resting. There won't be so much rest for them when those little hooves appear.

 

Yes and think of all the babies Boris is going to baby sit! lol Good thing he loves his job!

 

Oh wow I had forgotten about his babysitting duties during the rut.. Oh he's not going to be a very happy chappy, his hooves will be full.

 

Yes Karen he will be a VERY busy Boris!

 

Oh dear Boris, a man's work is never done (should be a woman's, but as it is Boris I will change it for him!)

 

But he loves teaching them all his Naughtiness.
