New Baby reindeer to my herd

I'm so sorry BoHoKaren. I've just read through the recent ordeal and I am very sorry for the loss of Hope, and for your heartbreak.

I miss baby Hope everyday BUT life has to go on and I need to start to enjoy the rest of my herd..
So today I will feature my "Fat Bottomed BOYS" who make my fences Rock.... as the lumps that they are break them with their weight, now that they have had a change of paddock and have (stolen) access to the fodder plantation!

 

Well you know how boys are - always hungry! They are so handsome, Karen, that I suppose we should forgive their munchies! May the joy of your herd bring healing to your heart. Hope will always be with us.

You need a better fence, lol! 8 foot high, I'm thinking.

My pretty calf from last year "Fleur", has an interesting Summer coat.
They all have a lot darker coats in the Summer months but she still has a lot of apricot, rather than brown, so I can't wait to see her adult Winter coat.
I just hope she learns a few manners as she is a whirling dervish!

 

Holy cow! How does Frodo run around with those giant antlers on his head? He must have neck muscles of titanium!

 

Frodo has an amazing set of antlers! He is always a favorite of mine.
It will be interesting to see Fleur's adult coat; really hoping for that gorgeous apricot color to stay.

 

Wow I am surprised Frodo doesn't get a headache carrying those massive antlers on his head. You must be so proud of him now.

 

Heehee. It is sort of funny watching the entire boys trying to sleep. They either try to place their chins on he ground to keep their antlers vertical or lay completely flat out looking dead, to take the weight off! BUT they LOVE their antlers and sulk once they loose them - boys love something to show off with.

I always love Lexi's Summer facial markings as they are so much more pronounced than when she's in Winter coat. Not sure if you can see from snaps but she always has white eye lashed on the left and brown on the right. She is stunning, not another that holds a candle to her Summer coat.

Gandalf and Frodo, for now the best of friends but within the next 4 weeks they will want to kill each other unless separated.

Got to love the males and their hormones.

They are wet through, and enjoying a thunderstorm, after a week of very hot weather.

 

A great photo of the two big boys - very impressive! I was thinking it was getting close to rutting season. Hope you have all the fences in good shape!

Wow Karen, Gandalf and Frodo are simply amazing animals! That is a wonderful picture of them, and for me absolutely wonderful to see Frodo today compared to a few years back! It puts a big smile on my face. Good luck with those big boys during rut...stay safe!
