The pink head just doesn't show up on photo's but here she is today.. still bright and perky. Not gaining as much weight for age as I would hope and her "output" is slightly firmer but still milk coloured which is odd for her age.. She will be 3 weeks tomorrow and should be grazing and have a brown/green output now.... and a lot bigger!

I am starting to really feel that she was very premature (with blood red hooves at birth) and still not grazing (other babies start in first 24 hours). Vet say diarrhoea could be caused by too much milk..
Don't want to stress her unnecessarily but may try to check if her teeth have developed next time we need an "up close and personal"

If she is a premie (and it sure sounds like it) it's a credit to your care that she is doing as well as she is. :)

You're doing all you can for her and with your love and experience, I am sure she will begin to thrive soon. You got Little Lotte through those first early scary and worrisome days and I hope all good things for Freya and the rest of the herd.:)

Yeah... Freya was a little constipated this afternoon... (bottom cleaning duty again but this time to get "things" moving.. :) )

Today she is 3 weeks old but still tiny for age (have included a picture with my hand to get better idea of scale)... Thor 5 weeks and Lexi 4 weeks... (Friday's are Birthdays for all but Loki, he's a Mondays child)

Thanks for the hand "scale"; gives a nice perspective on size.:) Love the two-some shot, beautiful babies in light and dark!

Thought you may like the update...
A video showing Freya feeling a lot better... wish she'd eat the pellets rather than play with the bucket though.
And if you watch it through you will see Loki taking after his big brother Hector and coming to say hello to the camera "man" me!

    Now an educational post...

How do reindeer cope with warmer weather?
I am sure you will all have noticed that the adults are looking pretty awful at the moment...

They have been moulting their wonderful winter coats since February.
At first it is only the long guard hairs but now I can groom out real undercoat (but only in patches and only when it is ready)...
These photos are of Mischa shoulders which have only just started to release her thick undercoat but you can see her short summer coat underneath :)... chocolate brown, which has been visable around all adults eyes for a few weeks.

A few weeks ago the bird were queueing up to take the groomings but now I have drifts of hair everywhere and we still have loads to shed!

I am sure the local birds were just loving lining their nests with that beautiful hair from the herd! :D I just love that Loki is as curious as Hector is lol, he is just too cute! It is amazing just how tiny little Freya is, I hope with your love and care she does well. They are a bunch of cuties for sure, thanks for sharing with us! :)

The birds have stopped taking the hair :( they have pretty much finished first round of nesting... My blackbirds have fledged and my robin is sitting tight (due to hatch any day), not sure how jackdaws are doing - they used to queue up for the hair but they are high in the trees.

Picture of the two pale girls, Freya doing really well now. Thinking I may have lots of extra work getting their coats looking good in the Winter as they look muddy now and they aren't! Always wanted a few pale calves but may regret come the Christmas season!!! :)
