Very cute photo of Hector. :) All that antler growing must make him extra hungry!

A little trip down Memory Lane...
Boris, Mischa, Twiglet, Katya at 11 months (Katya 12 months later)... :)All were imports, from the Arctic circle.
These pictures were after a few weeks of socialising (me sitting in a barn not moving for 7 hours a day, everyday, for a couple of weeks). They were all wild imports.
WOW have things changed...once they realised that they no longer had they to worry about wolves, wolverines, eagles attacking them, they started to play.. and haven't stopped since. Mind you I think I have conned them as they seem to think that I am keeping all the nasties away!!!

Lovely photos Karen. I bet you ached after all that sitting still for a couple of weeks, and you do keep all the "nasties" away from them!

I made a flask of coffee every morning and took a book.... Can you believe, I never opened the book... Just watched every ear twitch, et al and was fascinated and nothing exciting happened... apart from me creating a little corner for Mischa to hide away from the bigger ones..

I am sure that life out in the wild is VERY stressful for them. I am very happy they got to go live on "your" farm as you are a wonderful caretaker! :) Again thanks for sharing your adventures with us! :)

For any that remember that I was worried about Freya being premature (the undersides of her hooves were blood red at birth and hooves transparent for several days).
She is still smaller than I would like (5 weeks tomorrow) but her hooves are starting to get a normal colour and she is healthy, even though a little small.

Love the wonderful pictures! So glad she is healthy even if small. (Sometimes big things come in small packages. Maybe she will be your best baby?)

I do apologise to all... I post several in a day, then go quiet for days... It could be the weather that is tipping down in UK or topping paddocks or lots of excuses as to why I'm not posting.... But today multiple posts! :(

This is a Semi educational one... my "unicorn" Ana. Having a calf, seems to have done her the world of good. She is so much more relaxed. Today she has been on calf sitting duties. Yesterday she was more than happy cuddling up to her baby Freya with me within a few feet.. :) and today I can stroke Freya without her mother panicking.. :)

Oh sorry can't share the cuddling photo as I didn't put on FB.. I'm a numpty and can only copy and paste from there!! :((
But Ana was cuddled up to Freya with me sitting beside them... A BIG step for Ana..

I'm so happy that wee Freya is thriving!!!:inlove: It's also nice to hear that Ana has calmed down and realized you are only there to support and help care for her baby. Thanks for all the lovely pics!!!! ;)

It's Friday again. So it's 3 mini Birthdays... Thor 7 weeks, Lexi 6 and Freya 5 (Freya is still a little too small BUT healthy).
Thor, Loki (Loki has pretty good antlers and only 5 days older than Freya) and Lexi all have antler buds but no sign in Freya yet despite only being 5 days younger than Loki..

Edit, funny thing is her rest spot in entire paddock is always here by home paddock drinker and hidden besides the nettles... A big paddock... but always here!

She's just getting her feet to look like normal so no extra "energy" for those buds yet. :)

Awww Happy B-day to all your boys & girls. The boys are already looking manly(in fact from the angle, Thor looks enormous). The girls...so pretty in white! Freya must love the soft, tall grass....perhaps it's a bit moist being near the water?

Nothing exciting to report... but that suits me fine... I don't like trauma days!
Just thought I would add a photo showing how tiny reindeer teeth are (and non at the front on upper jaw).
First picture is Thor and you will see how he is starting to loose his baby coat around the eyes and nose... his eyes look a bit manic but just light reflection ;)
Will post a second of Lexi who has been showing antler buds for a few days now... nothing from Freya yet! :(
And another update... the baby robins have fledged from my haybarn!! :)

Great news... my unicorn Ana's daughter Freya has 2 antlers on the way :).

You still can't see them and 2 days ago there was nothing to feel but today during a head rub I felt her two little buds developing!! So happy..

Yay!xD That is great news about little Freya! I just :inlove: her, she is so tiny and petite! She may have started out a little behind, but with all the great care and love she gets I know she will just thrive and grow up just fine!;):inlove:
