Even I find it hard to believe that my profile picture is Hector... only about 13 months ago... Now he really is my Monster.. :)

    Sisters.. :)

Still no visual signs of antler's on Premmie Freya (but she tipped the scales at over 18kg - literally tipped them, couldn't get an accurate weight before she wriggled out of the sling). I don't mind, put all your energy into growing Little One, we'll work on antlers next year. :)

They are so cute, I think Freya's face even looks younger than sister Lexi!:inlove: As long as she is healthy and still growing all is good!;)

Dollar, Freya is 7 days younger than Lexi BUT very behind on development, but she's healthy just developing very slowly..... Lexi has had antlers for weeks and started to loose baby coat weeks ago too..

I went back to look for an early picture of Freya (post 1298 ) and I think that the two dark spots just inside her ears are what should be where her antler buds would be. Is that correct? Or are they just markings? Are you sure she doesn't have anything forming there?

(Maybe I'm just being optimistic?) :)

Noelle the dark marks are where the antlers will be and I have been able to feel tiny bumps (on Freya) for a few weeks but they don't seem to have grown anymore.. Still a few more weeks of growing time for the babies and females but they'll need to get to at least 3 " to be seen above her winter coat. :)

Picture is of Hector and Lotte today. That testosterone really makes a difference in antler growth in second year.

He is amazing! And so grown up looking, but I am sure the "little monster" is still lurking in there just waiting to jump out! xD Lotte is beautiful too!;)

Great pic of the "original" babies! ;) Hector and Lotte are now so grown up! I would love to hear a Hector story. :music:Is he up to any of his antics? :p

    Brooke - always.
No feed store raids as I had to remove them from Home Paddock (after only 3 days of grazing in about 8 months, such a shame, due to Fruit Loop problems).

During the administration of injections to the others, Hector was poking his nose in. Either rubbing up against my helpers or pawing at the bucket that had sterile needles, syringes, drugs etc..

Humans and reindeer are suffering a bit today, some reindeer limping :(...

Over the last few days I have had to do a major herd handling.. Injecting wormer & vitamin drenching all. Babies have also had to have booster vaccine jabs (wormer one thigh, vaccine other) and earrings (herd/individual numbers). The five easy adults, a doddle (Hector included - I injected and drenched without even attaching a lead rope :) ).

My two "wildies", Twiglet and Ana put up a good fight once they saw a syringe! Just a couple of bruises from them. Freya's moulting coat filled a helpers mouth and clothing in baby fluff and I have spent the last hour with my ring finger in ice to remove rings... think I have broken it by getting seriously twisted in baby head collar... BUT we will be back to peace and quiet tomorrow.

    But seems they are too!

Wore everyone out! Who's that standing in the back just right of center (facing the camera)? Looks like the head collar has been moved a bit out of normal position. So sorry the fruit loop has caused so much upheaval in you and your herd's lives. Will you ever be able to use that pasture? Will you need to "double" the fence? Such a shame.

Cassi, that is Mischa. Head collar is fine, I think it's a forward antler tine that you are seeing (that has just caught the light)...?

I am HOPING I can use Home paddock again soon, as that is where I usually wean babies into - with their mothers sharing fenceline into "Rutland".. better handling systems in place in Home Paddock BUT everything has gone haywire this year!!!
I think/hope her landlord has had enough but to be honest not sure how I will do weaning this year... I only have 1 option (very secure paddock) for rut BUT it hasn't been rested enough due to problems... a nightmare..
Will find a "holding"photo for you all, so that I can post again in the next couple of days..

I hope the landlord kicks her out but if your laws are anything like ours, it could take some time. Will keep fingers crossed. :)

I also wondered if there was an antler tine there but wasn't sure. Not used to animals with that type of "headgear". :pxD

Blessings for a quick healing for your finger.o_O Poor darlings, they don't like needles anymore than most of us!:wuerg:

Karen - Oh poor you! Ouchies...I too hope your ring finger heals quickly! Great photos!!!;) Either your photography skills have improved greatly or the reindeer are being more cooperative. The one of the 2 baby girls is so sweet. And then Lexie and one of the baby boys is also adorable. The one with most of the herd resting reminds me of when I would take my human young boys to the Doc for their shots and then some baby tylenol...they would sleep for the rest of the afternoon.
LOL....gotta love Hector and his antics! He just had to poke his nose in to find out what was going on and bat at the bucket of syringes to see what they were. :pxDxD
I'm praying that the "fruit loop" is removed quickly and life for you & your wonderful herd can return to normal.

A couple of shots of the baby boys (they are growing so quickly) and one just for Noelle .... of Freya's baby bumps, she's got tufts of hair now. I might even be able to claim soon that she has antlers!!

It's now less than a month before my baby boys will be going to the north of Aberdeen, to a lovely family that already have 5 castrate reindeer and a wildie girl. I know they will be loved beyond and will get regular updates but I will miss them beyond... All the reindeer they have purchased in the past have been very difficult... They ordered my two boys before they were born (knowing they weren't wild bred and would be easy)... so I tried to steel my heart... but still so difficult
You may need to hold my hand when they go... :(
