She really is a beautiful reindeer! :) I am sure you will come up with a plan to get her where she needs to be, I just hope they will all get along, as you don't need them hurting one another! Or you either! :p

She'll be fine. Females aren't dangerous during rut. The problems her owners are having with her (I hope/think) are due to the fact they only have a castrate herd (plus my two baby boys)..
She/all females and entire males have "stripped out" at this time of year, thus become dominant.. She's a little hormonal, in hard antler and trying to flirt with their castrates by antler tussles (but the are getting injured)... which they aren't equipped for antlers or bits.. She's a little frustrated..
I am guessing she may have an antler tussle with Twiglet and Mischa when she first sets foot at home but only to sort out pecking order..

I am lucky I have a herd that I can separate my castrate and put him on babysitting duty and my rutting bull enjoys tussles with the girls.. :)
I think all will be fine (or at least till I need to handle her) she doesn't like injections or medication... but hey ho, more bruises, I can cope with that!

Thanks, for all the great information! I am happy to hear you don't feel Elsa will run amok when she gets there! ;) As for giving her Meds and injections, well good luck with that, I'm sure she will not be happy! Poor Hector, he did look like he is losing weight...talk about too much of a good thing!xD

She's arrived home safely.. :) After dark though, and an 11 hours journey home (1,000 miles for hubby but she only did half that).. Was a worry how I would get her into rutting paddock on arrival. But hubby let me know when half hour away and I managed to catch Hector by torchlight over fence and tied him up tightly in order to drive trailer into his paddock... Hector wasn't happy (picture)..
Before I had time to release him she had a paddled at either Ana or Lotte (hard to tell by torchlight). Once vehicle out of paddock and gate secured I released Hector, he chased (grunting) she turned (Clash of the Titans - rattling antlers) she ran again and turned, again another set to on antlers.....
Think she may be in season... and she's playing hard to get..
I'm sure she'll settle soon... I will be able to observe better tomorrow and post photos... in the meantime Hector will be letting her know she can't rule the roost! :)

Yay, happy to hear the journey has ended well and everyone is safe and sound!:D And Elsa is now where she needs to be! :) Hopefully in the daylight you will be able to see all the herd has settled down! Yes, I am very much an optimist!;) And Good Luck to Hector!:p

I am glad Elsa (and your hubby) arrived home safely and you managed to get her in the paddock without too much of a problem. I am sure Hector will make sure she doesn't rule the roost!

Hector was shattered this morning and loads of tufts of hair in rutting paddock this morning. She is a girl with attitude. She came out of the trailer fighting but she has never had to deal with other reindeer in "hard antler". Within 12 hours she has learnt that she isn't the big "I am" and has to find her place... which is no longer the bully... because the rutting paddock are all in hard antler ;)

I guess she had to learn the "hard antler" way, lol! xD

BohoKaren - I loved the morning after pic of Hector and Elsa!:inlove: With his head lowered....Hector seems to be looking at you and asking "where ever did you find this one?"o_O I hope all calms down in the rutting paddock. The 2 love birds would make gorgeous babies!:music:

Hmmmn I was wrong. She's taken on all the girls and won... Only Hector keeps her in check...
Not worried as I am guessing the other girls have been covered, and therefor not that interested BUT she is. Hector and her are like two lovebirds, the gently antler tussle and then graze together most of the day..
With the rut I don't have chance to bond with her.... but my time will come..

Great picture! I bet you are right, that the other girls are all set as far as Hector goes and Elsa hears
"that clock" ticking and just needs her turn with him now!;)

Their antlers in that picture resemble a sort of heart!

Sorry no good updates today. I could only take one dodgy photo.
For some reason my back has gone into spasm and only while I was sitting at computer sorting quotes... so no reason..
I had to call in friends to feed reindeer and could only shuffle round to tell them what mix of food for which paddock... I don't do ill!
