First, let me clarify this is not a complaint about the current markets. I think the team has done well. From forum posts, it seems that prices and such are relatively consistent. The biggest point of disparity would be during G & T. I previously suggested having a market that would allow more trades, particularly for G & T, but was told it is not "technically possible". The basic problem seems to be it would be just way too large.

Maybe a partial compromise would be to have a new market just available to those level 100 and up (note.. I am not yet there!). This market would be much more limited than the other markets, not just limited by level, but with far more limited postings. This would hopefully circumvent the technical issue. Even if there were still multiple markets, they at least would be broader than the current markets.

    Why?
Although the current markets operate well for most situations, we have had calls for things like larger quantities and also to allow wider trades in G & T. That last is my primary concern. Opening the market up more would allow easier transfer of some select items. Sure, there are the forum threads, but as noted, those are not official trades (though I have never had a problem!). The biggest issue is that they are limited to forum posters, which tend to be the same group of folks. It means its OK for new people to get things, but not so great for older players who are looking for just specific items. Similarly, some things just get limited in G & T. Finding the few people who have these wanted items in their barns is tricky. On the other hand, opening up this market too much would be just unwieldy. Also, it does seem that we are in need of some kind of rewards, something of benefit to higher level players. Right now, once you reach level 96 there is nothing more to be gained from further increases. A new market... whether opened up at level 100 or another level, would be something to "shoot for".

This would benefit the wider community by allowing greater transfer of items. Granted, it would be only the highest level players who could participate, but these are also the ones that are most likely to have a lot of extra items. You could still limit items that you did not want transfered... or perhaps open up some items (maybe just for gifting -- thinking of things like the loading flowers, though that might not work). At any rate, just being able to trade a few items to people who neither post in the forums nor are in my market would be a worthwhile benefit.

It could be a "stand along" G & T only deal. However, it might also make sense to allow some very limited regular offerings. The minimum quantities, for example, could be set high -- maybe 50 animals, 100 tree fruit and 1000 crops. Also, the number of postings could be much more limited. Maybe just one or two G & T trades , or 5 "regular" postings. You could even, potentially do something like shut down the regular trades (pause them, or just cancel them) for the duration of the G & T to open up server space.

I think you are missing the point. I am not talking about dividing the current markets, I am talking about ADDING a new market. It has already been established that the current markets cannot be combined. This takes away nothing, it just adds something for higher players.

This would benefit lower level players as well, because the higher level players can turn around and sell them within their markets.

ALSO.. remember one thing. In this game, reaching a higher level is not dependent on competing with others. EVERYONE, without exception, will reach the higher levels eventually, if they just put in enough time. The things I am suggesting will be things that will keep us happily playing longer, but will not harm lower level players. That is the point.
