When I went to Alaska in 2011, there were so many eagles. (they are my favorite bird-if they are birds--ok birds of prey) I usually have the live eagle cam on in the background of my computer. Everywhere u went you would see them in trees, in waterways, wherever. I was so enthralled but to the natives...they were the equivalent of pigeons to us New Yorkers.

Elimeno- I LOVE Alaska!! I went there in 2001 and went to a eagle preserve.
We floated down the river thru it and eagles were everywhere. I love watching them fish.
    Alaska is amazing!

Yes it is...I was on a cruise ship so u dont get to stay anyone place for long and the places we went were limited. I went in July 2011---the weather in Alaska was perfect. The ship---not so much.

I want to go back, at some point in my life, to see the Northern Lights...it seems so spectacular. Also to go with someone I like...LOL

I also did a cruise. The ship spirit owned by carnival cruise lines. It was brand new that year and beautiful!
We paid for a indoor cabin because anything else was too expensive and we were upgraded to a balcony cabin :)
We stayed in Anchorage for 2 days then left from Sitka. Went white water rafting in Valdez. Stopped in Juneau for whale watching, Skagway we went hiking. Haines for the float trip. And finally Ketchikan for Salmon fishing. It was a wonderful trip until the end-
We left in September and entered Canada, where our flight was out of, the morning the twin towers fell. We had to stay on the ship as Canadian authorities would not let anyone disembark until they checked out every person on the ship. That took 4 days..At the time CNN was reporting that the borders might be closed so all we could think about was becoming Canadian refugees. Finally they said anyone with a flight out of Seattle needed to board a bus and even though we didn't have a flight out of Seattle I said lets just get into the states in case these borders close. We made it in and we stayed in Seattle for another 4 days before we could get a flight to Florida. What a mess.
But.. nothing like what the poor families of those with family members that died in the twin towers. It was just horrible. I bet everyone living in the US remembers what they were doing that day~

/Your trip sounded like it started out great/ I didn't get to do those things but took tours...it was nice. I would love to try white water rafting. we were able to tour the places we stopped in...but some we were there only for hours....our last stop before we went back to Seattle was in Canada. we were only there a few hours...wish i could have stayed longer but not were we stopped. my girlfriend took a train excursion through Canada. She said the cabins were like hotel rooms and the food 5 star...i wonder if they have one here...i have been looking into that too...

flwrsndnc----> i am not a plane person...but i had to do it...i wont take a plane yet overseas...I have been to the islands. I have been to Puerto Rico, so I have gotten better but will only fly here...but getting better every plane trip

Cylentlea: your trip ended horribly. We here in NY were freaking out. I remember just wanting to get the kids, come home and close all the shades and blinds. My aunt lived in Battery Park...so we couldn't find her for 2 weeks. My husband (at the time) & my ex-husband had to work the trade center sights. luckily my father didnt. My dad was a detective and for some reason he didn't have to go into the city

Yes to the question...I married and divorced 2 policemen. There is something about a uniform...for goodness sake it can even be the UPS man...I cant resist. I can tell u guys stories about being married to them...to bad their isnt a private forum.

Its 337am in NY...i have been up most of the night...intermittently. for the past few days...falling asleep with the computer on my lap...u know how it it is when u have so much on your mind...even my sleep meds havent worked. Inez--the lab---has been waking me up as well.

    Sorry so long winded

Elimeno- I can only imagine what it was like on the morning of 9/11 in NY.
How scared everyone must have been. I was in Canada and my eyes were just glued to CNN.

I too wish there was a private forum for us girls to chat sometimes.
UPS men.... you are funny !! :D;)xD

Flwrsndc- Flying is FUN! I love it. The take off and landing are my favorite parts :)
Don't be scared, just get on a plane and go for it!

Next time I go to Alaska, I want to go inland. I want to see Denali and definitely the northern lights from Fairbanks.

Thats right...a uniform can make most men look hot xDxDxD

I want to go back too. we got to watch a glacier melt, I fell in love with wild strawberries, but I want to see more of the inland stuff, go into the woods (not alone--bc I would be the one eaten by a bear) and definitely, on my bucket list is the Northern Lights in Fairbanks

Yes- Alaska is not a place to go hiking alone, that's for sure! lol
Its on my bucket list too. I also want to go to Hawaii and dive with whales.
I'm certified but I gotta get there lol I think that would be an amazing experience, especially after seeing them breech in Alaska.
I get goosebumps just thinking about it. Growing up in Florida seaworld was a usual summertime place to go but when we went to Alaska and I saw wild killer whales with their dorsal fin straight up and not curled like at seaworld I got goosebumps. They are so majestic swiiming in their pods ~

Just forum record we are talking about animals...

OMG Seaworld has always been my favorite place, the changes they are making are for the good although they do a lot of other things that the public doesnt know about...I love going whale watching but with that you only see when they dive and wild dolphins. I would love to go to Australia to see a great white. Sharks are my favorite. Dont worry...I once told my best male friend, if we both werent married by 40--we would get married (he is married...LOL...not that I would've)....SO if we cant find away to get to Hawaii & Alaska, its me and you...and mom ;);)....ROAD-TRIP...until we cant drive...BTW isnt it crazy how Hawaii has Interstate Highways??? I have to run up to Guiding Eyes...so I will ttyl...
