Possible solution to EP mystery

After reading about the EP mystery in Technical issues I decided to do some testing myself.

The problem seems to be the owls. I just recently bought owls, so I am not a 100% sure how they work, but my understanding is this: You get 10% extra EP calculated from the base EP given by the object.

I did my testing with orange chicken coops and 2 owls:

• Base EP for orange chicken is 23.
• Two owls gives a bonus of 23*0,2=4,6 EP
• Happy stable day gives additional bonus 23 EP
• Total 23+4,6+23 = 50,6

This is the amount of EP I actually get from harvesting (both manually and with machinery).

This is also the amount which is shown when I harvest with machinery.

The info bubble for the orange chicken says I should receive 55EP. This is also the amount which appears when I harvest manually. But when I calculate how much I actually received from total EP before and after harvesting, I only got 50,6 EP.

If the owl bonus is calculated from the double EP value, the bonus would be 46*0,2 = 9,2 and the total 55EP. This is what is displayed in the info bubbles, but I don't think this is how the owl bonus actually work.

My conclusion is that the EP is awarded correctly independent of harvesting method, but that the info bubbles display wrong information.

Edit: The same probably happens with other buffs too. I haven't tested this, but see pnps post below.

Thanks for trying to solve the mystery...you remain the Super Sleuth! However, my owls were not active when I harvested my donkeys so the EP should match but they don't.

Edit: The difference for me is the 30% from the EM that is running. It is applied to the original base amount and not the double EP from the event.

 

My owls were running, but I do not care. I got less than reported...

 

I agree with you, I think the EP displayed in the bubbles is wrong. So we get less than we were led to believe.

Edit: But nevertheless the correct amount.

I can confirm your calculations and what you describe are correct: bubbles / EPs amounts shown at harvesting not always show the right awarded EPs amount but they are correctly computed, meaning the correct amount is computed.

This is not new. I started noticing this long ago on trees but realized afterwards it happened with almost everything else. It happens both with owls and EP-buffs like EM and SRJ. I haven't investigated it any further because I've always got sure the correct amounts were being computed. What you describe confirms it once more.
