    Hi!

I've got a question about setting up trades. If I want to trade an XXL orange tree with ForumMember 72 for their XXL plum tree, how do I set it up?

I know how to set up a regular request, but if I want FM72 to see the offer and act on it, how can I make sure they do?

Thanks for your help! I have FINALLY gotten enough stuff so I can trade instead of only asking for gifts, and I want to help out other players. :)

Trades agreed upon on the forum or via ingame message are usually done with gift licences. You send the thing you want to trade away to the other person as a gift, and the other person sends you what you want as a gift. Be ware that there is a risk, if you send your gift first, the other person may not keep their word and send what you want. Bigpoint does not take responsibility for such trades, so complaining to mods/support will probably get you nowhere. I don't mean to scare you, it usually works out all right, in all my years of trading I have never been cheated, but I know some have. If you trade with players who write regularly in the forum, the risk of being cheated should be low. If it is someone you are unsure about you may ask them to send first; personally in those case I either don't trade with the person, or just accept the risk.

The official trade function only works between players on the same market. If both of you are on the same market you could theoretically set up an official trade. It's more trouble than it's worth though in my opinion. First you'd have to make sure you are on the same market, then one of you have to set up the trade. One risk is that someone else may grab the deal first, or if there are several players offering the same deal, you might choose the wrong one, effectively trading with someone else. There is no way to check who made the offer until after the trade has gone through.

Good luck and happy trading :)

Thanks for your help Mir85! I didn't know there were multiple markets, and I should have given that this is a world-wide game.

I've been lucky the last couple of G&T events and gotten wonderful gifts. I'll take your advice and stick with posters here to make sure it continues. :)
