recipe hunting, and taking a deep breath

Wow, this has been a whirlwind of a week for me. Never mind the level (moved so fast due to roses ep) this is now a full week under my belt. So I may get a pass if I post something trivial now and again, right? Maybe post a non funny in a funny column? Just hang in there, cause I intend to... With that awesome week of G&T and flowers and love behind I can take a breath and look at my farm and all the help thats been given me. I must say I had no idea what was in store with a"pc game about farm animals" and Ive really enjoyed this new obsession and cant wait to look back on my first year. My husband and my supervisor may not be as thrilled, but they will be fine...eventually. My post is mostly to say just that I love the farm life, now its time to get to work (cause roses weren't???) and tend to my barn and animal needs...I'm thinking I may never be a chemist, but a baker I shall be:, gardener, OH YES!, jelly and jam, of course! So I have big plans and hope everyone that tries this game, finds the friends and comfort that I did, and sticks around to look back on their first year. Now

You know it's good to hear the enthusiasm and makes the game so much more fun.

I remember the very first event I was able to participate in was an Easter event. You had to grow lilies and tulips if memory serves can't remember if it required milling or not but you fed this really cute little bunnies that popped up. It might have been the first time that mechanism was used for an event. I was only going to grow a few but I went nuts once I started getting all those gifts.

 

@purplebeet I highly recommend you take several deep breaths, exhale slowly. The artisans are very, very appealing & the buffs they provide are extremely helpful. BUT it takes a barn full of crops & products & trade products (sugar, salt, floral wire, mandrake & herbal elixir) to make the real useful buffs! You will go thru thousands of trade products just trying to level up & once you've started ONE of the trades you will no longer receive drops of the other trade products!!! Please consider playing for at least 6 months before starting a trade.

This farm will be 3 years old at the end of this month and I have not started any of the artisan trades yet! I hope to begin in the next 6 months. I have almost 100,000 of each trade product in my barn & have all but 2 of the Tree of Wisdom runes that bolster trade EP (helps to level up faster). I have the stars but rumors of new tree runes coming soon have me holding out. Am currently trying to boost the products in my barn (takes animals, feed & time) that the new FSQ's also want! And be aware that some of the recipes are not available (CAC recipe was a reward from a long ago event & BP does not offer it now).

I have used buffs everyday to help me level up, I buy them in the market! As well as winning some on the farm wheel, rewards from events & receiving some as gifts from friends & neighbors. With a good source of CC's you can get the buffs you want/need easier than making them yourself on a low level farm. It is much easier to make CC's than any of the artisan buffs on almost any farm!
Just get acquainted with the price ranges of your favorite buffs on the market & stock up when you find a good deal. If you let your friends & neighbors & the forum know which buffs you are in need of ... there are some very generous players who will help you out.

This is just my way to do the artisans, just please read the FAQ's & ask questions here to thoroughly understand what you will need to find success with the artisan trades. You don't want to have to stop growing an event crop to plant a crop your short of for that buff or be waiting for more sugar or those ostrich eggs! Look for a source of CC's, selling chickens, poo or apples to start, especially between events. Then keep an eye on your market and you can have the benefit of buffs without using up your farm resources.

Nice deep breath purplebeet, wait till a 1/2 price sale to buy recipes from the red basket & any recipes you get will be waiting for you when you reach the appropriate level for that artisan Just like any cloud row you're rewarded will be there when you open the Magic Stalk. I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm, just remember this is a marathon not a sprint. Good Luck & Happy Farming!

 

Actually dafodilly, the CAC recipe is available in the supply store/shop I believe it's 199BB off sale, 99BB during the 1/2 off sales.

 

Thanks for the correct info @PeepsCA I've read several times in previous threads that CAC recipe wasn't available. Glad to know BP has changed that.

@purplebeet your enthusiasm is infectious almost makes me want to start a new farm.

I do remember how much fun Renzo's was the first couple of times I played. I've got a new speedy mouse though so those groundhogs better look out next time around. I also remember the absolute sense of accomplishment when I finally got that magic stalk open. We used to have to do MM on the main farm field only. You had to make sure you could harvest it clear and then flip it to night mode so you could plant crops. It was incredibly challenging to get bat stalls and bat breeding open then. I remember getting up incredibly early and staying up almost all night for many MM's trying to get it finished.

Funny enough I still don't keep anything long term on my main field and use it almost exclusively for crops.

 

Yes CAC becomes available when you reach level 4 for Confectionery , took me ages to work out

 

purplebeet, I opened confectioner first. At first level I can make Pumpkin Jam (for sale on half price sale for 50 BB in shop). I now harvest everything with a +1. It makes getting enough crops to make feed and for FSQs much easier. I know I have CAC to look forward to also. Just my two cents.

thank you everyone, I love having such a game that so many different personalities get together and share ideas and interests and actually want to help AND be a part of something fun & positive! I'm going to read over the faqs of the breeding really well, as I haven't said anything, but I gave the pheromone thing a whirl, and basically got what I put into it....lol as I said, I've got a lot of reading ahead of me then I will be back to ask more questions Blessings!
