Ow, my sides, laughing too hard! xDxD When our dog Cam was a pup, I was constantly telling him not to do things, as you usually have to do with puppies :p. Got to the point where I started calling him Cam Don't because his attitude definitely wasn't Cam Do xD.

Had to put this here, not sure if it is funniest animal or most senile moment (for the dog, not me) ..... Well bred and well trained spaniel is due to have her pups any day now .... it is her first litter so she is not quite sure what is going on.. Her hormones are telling her to find somewhere safe to have her pups, so she has been wandering around checking out every corner, nook and cranny and she has even dug a few experimental holes under the hedge in the rear garden. Under the stairs, a quiet and dim spot along with a comfortable bed filled with bedding to scratch up, all carefully prepared by myself awaits and is completely ignored by her..... The reason being is that she has now chosen her 'safe' spot ..... it would be the middle step of the three steps in our hallway making our home 'split level' which officially is a) The most trafficked area, b) right next to the very draughty front door and c) the most inconvenient place that she could have possibly chosen ......

kmellish - Maybe it's b/c she wants to make sure you see her when she's having the pups...in case she needs your help. I'm kidding of course, but it's a nice/laughable thought anyway. xDLOL I wish her luck and ease during delivery. Please post pics of the cutie babies when they arrive!:music:
Spring babies seem to be coming from all over.....first reindeers...now puppies.:inlove:

I, too, hope all goes well with the delivery and that new mom and babies are ok during those first confusing moments. It does make you wonder what the criteria is for selecting just the right spot. I know my mom's 100+ lb Great Pyrenees would love to hide under your stair with a comfortable bed when there is either storm outside or someone setting off firecrackers. He hides his face behind the couch and then 'it' can't get him. I guess if he can't see 'it' then 'it' can't see him even though his big body sticks out.

    Yes, please post photos!

I was remembering a strange a funny experience while I was trying to get my Russian (dwarf) hamsters to have babies, while my golden hamsters bred 3 or 4 times and have a lot of babies, until I found a site on the net that explains what needs to be done, they need light for no more than eight hours every day so they can mate, they have to be in the dark for at least 16 hours a day, I figured out to put them under my bed before I go to work every morning, so a few days and I saw the belly of the female growing bigger, so I was counting the days anticipating the birth time, I used to have them in a plastic tank like the ones used for colored fish, so the day come and I put the tank on the table and started watching and nothing happened, the male was isolated and cowering in a corner, and the lady was not moving, I think she was feeling heavy, suddenly she jumped on the wheel and started to run, spinning the wheel at a high speed, after a while I got bored and turned my head, a few minutes I looked back and I saw something red flying from the wheel, it hit the top of the tank and fell far away, then another thing hit another direction, I looked close to see that she was giving birth while running fast on the wheel, I never imagined I would ever see something like this, she kept running while the babies dropped from her on the wheel and the wheel spins them randomly, small things the size of a red bean and I count them nine, that tiny animal at the size of a match box delivered nine babies while running on the wheel, then she dropped that thing after the babies which females do after the babies are out then she ate it, I was amazed and laughing.
I have prepared for them a small doll house and a friend told me hamster mothers like paper tissues to furnish there nest, so I bring some and gave it to her, while in my hand she shred them and put them in her cheeks until they were puffy and over sized, then she put them in the house and started to collect the babies, I though the wheel might have done some damage to them, but luckily they were alright, she put them over the tissues and lay down and started to feed them, it was really amazing, the only thing I was sorry about was not having a camera to capture that experience, that time the mobile phones with cameras were not invented yet.

Pups have arrived safely, now two days old. Willow, the mum, had seven healthy girls that are either solid lemon or lemon roan. She did try to maintain that the step in the hallway really was the best place to have them but with some constant and gentle persuasion did give in and have them where she was supposed to. I have however caught her several times trying to move them to that 'Step' although the obnoxious bag of feathers called 'Max' (parrot) is not helping matters at all, he can mimic the sound of a 'crying' pup perfectly and poor Willow is convinced that there are puppies hidden all round the house that need 'tending' to. That step really does give the best vantage point!!! xDxD

So glad to hear all went well and that mom and puppies are doing well. Seven girls! Wow! Poor Willow, trying to be a good mommy and worrying about having misplaced a puppy but yes, it is funny that Max is teasing her.

We used to have have a lab that would bark and whine every time we crated him, so we'd cover the crate with a blanket, and he would quiet down xD. Congrats on the pups, kmellish, looking forward to those pics!:inlove:
