I was once a trawler fisherman on a 50 foot wooden vessel called the 'Thomas Lovell' and we were based out of Greymouth West Coast New Zealand. Looking back is the best way to remember this kind of fishing as it varied from enjoying an outstandingly beautiful oceanic nature, to being a ridiculously dangerous way to earn a wage.
I remember the last delivery voyage ( the vessel had been sold to purchase a larger fibre-glass boat from Florida) when we picked up the gear off Kaharangi Reef. There was a glorious sunset over the horizon where the ominous clouds didn't quite meet the sea. The Southern Ocean swell was building and the skipper wanted to get to the safety of Farewell Spit asap. This meant that after the net was stowed he was fulltime on the wheel and I was left by myself to sort and store the catch. So we were travelling at about six knots lurching about with the swell not straight on to the stern and the odd wave would crash over the stern. This gave the six five-foot sharks enough sea water to swirl about meanacingly on the deck amongst the flounders and soles, red cod and gurnard. My limited experience was a blessing as I was told later that my worst threat was the two six-foot conger eels that had the ability to break a man's ankle had they latched onto mine.
The next wave knocked me over against the trawl-boards mounted vertically on the sides of the boat which saved me from going over the side into the advancing darkness!
Occasionally Bob had the opportunity to operate the winch for us to lower the fish cases into the hold and I was the lucky one who got to go to bed later. He had a sleepless night of a ten hour steam!
I woke to a gorgeous dawn in the flat calm off Abel Tasman Point on the lee side and with no work that day and only a short steam to Nelson to finish our trip.

So I think standing in a stream would be a luxury!
    (Or being a bear on a pond!):D

spotsbox - Hysterical story of your hubby! I had an lol moment picturing him bounding down the stream after his runaway fish. My eldest son has a pretty good case of ADHD, but since being a toddler he can fish for hours on end. His pediatrician denied his ADHD because he could focus on fishing for long periods of time, Later we found out that people can use "hyper-focus" on things they greatly
    enjoy.
davidb1 - OMG What a scary event! Six foot eels? Eeek!o_O Thankfully you survived!!!:music:

Wow, Lovely Posting by Brookeham, David and Spotbox of real life fishing facts and stories, which certain cheer us up of dismal lack of fishing for pearls fun...:p

If anyone notice when you get logged out or sign out of this game, has anyone noticed farmerama facts...one of them is Pearls Fact, if you get the chance to read it;)

Let us try to be optimistic.....finally i got my first 6 Pearls:D i got it from wining my second octopus

I would advise try aiming for the outer Green Ring not the Center Green ring as it is random but it seem more likely to get marlin and Octopus, i dont bother buying lure crates now we still have 8 days left to get 15 pearls, anything on top of that is Bonus

The only other random prize that any real benefit is Crate O Buffs..:p;)

David you are right that Fishing in Trawler Boats is very Dangerous and Risky Job considering your pay is based on how many fishes you catch as i live in the UK which is an Island it has many Fishing Ports....Grimsby, Brixham , Fishguard etc ....They have Fishing Memorials of Fishing Men who lose Lives at Sea, Me being British we are Mad on Fish and Chips one of my joys of Life is going to Picturesque Fishing Towns to Enjoy Freshly Catch Choices of Different Fishes to Eat with my Chips :D:D:D

I saved up my vouchers and got 6 deluxe lures. I did finally win 6 pearls with octopus. I did get some good prizes but the pearls are very hard to come by. There is no skill involved in this as my graphics are as bad as they are in Renzo's. I just release when it hits the center and I have had it stop at pretty much every level.

It was a surprise and the pearls were complete. :music::music:
I think the pearls lost their direction and accidentally came to me.8)
    CR up and running. 8)8)
Good luck to everyone who tries, because it is so annoying that it depends on luck.:(

I got first pearls yesterday. I should be be that lucky twice to get cloud row.

I also got Piccolo box from one of the crates. No BB tree, but some BBs from Eternal Treasure Hunt.

Which lures are you all using? You're making me itchy to go fish :pxD.

@Brookeham, yes, it was absolutely hysterical, a grown man in waders chasing a fish down the creek. xD I laughed so hard I was afraid I was going to spook the fish in the next hole up, which is one I always fish.

@David, wow, that is not a job I would want. Not a fan of deep water. :wuerg: You narrated your story beautifully, it was easy to imagine the waves thrashing your boat about.

    Still no pearls here :(

Not only no pearls, but last 2 days no Marlins nor Octopus. Using deluxe lures. It doesn't matter inside, outside or glowing green circle.

I like the idea of fishing but the reality is that I get hot, itchy, hungry/thirsty and long to get out of the high humidity that we have even in the very cool hours of early morning. We don't have a boat and so hubby fishes from the bank. Thanks for sharing your fishing stories! Loved them :)

I have 12 Pearls but those last three are very elusive - but I suppose I shouldn't complain as so many of you have not even won any! What a shame to spoil a fun mini event like this one was in the beginning! :(

Great fishing stories thanks for sharing!:inlove: I am a Pisces so I like to leave the fish in the sea!:music:but love it when others enjoy the sport! So today I bought 10 Deluxe lures and fishing was just awful I got 2 Marlin through dumb luck, like puppiesnponies said it doesn't matter where you get in that circle you get what "they" want you to have! I did not get any pearls again!
So I have fished a total of 20 times 10 with 8 Premium and 2 deluxe, and then 10 with Deluxe and zero pearls to show for it!
A big congrats to all of you who have managed to get some "they are rare indeed!!":p

3 more marlin. 0 pearls. 120 fish crates. This is beyond a joke. Wait another 23 hours.

i was cleaning my garage yesterday and realised I haven't been fishing in years while looking at all the rods going to waste.

I haven't been fishing in eons and wasn't the best at it when I was young. I couldn't bait the hook without killing the bait and then I couldn't remove the fish from the hook without injuring it or dropping it. I learned to bring a book on the boat. ;)

I still only have 6 pearls and have mostly been getting EP/BEP. I would honestly prefer the fish crates as I usually get good workshop goods.

I've never used live bait. Actually I don't know anybody here that does. Different baits for different fish.

Well I got so grumpy yesterday I forked out $ and bought 10 large lure crates. And got my first 6 pearls.
Redeemed tokens this morning for 2 deluxe lures and got another 6. Finally.

I still haven't got any pearls.

When I read all your postings about fishing and bait, I remember Anton Chekov's 'Malefactor' short story where an ignorant villager uses railway track nuts for fishing lure to give it weight and doesn't know its implication. It is the way in which the author writes the story. I enjoyed it a lot. Still now one of my favourite.

Why in earlier messages is information, that we need 36 rare pearls ?

FAQ and game "says" that Cloudrow cost 15 rare pearls and in same page is only LURES to buy whit pearls ?!

In my opinion, 15 Pearls = 3 box´s is enough to cloudrow (there is not special items seen in CR picture in FAQ !!!), is it or is it not ?

edit: OK, that message with information about 36 pearls... it is gone, maybe to the Bit Space ! 15 Pearls seems to be the right amount to buy and use CR, I guess!
