They say 1x1 plots are better than 2x2 plots in giving drops for the same crops. But you have to have the harvester to harvest them otherwise it will give you great strain for hands. Put long time crops for good drop rate. Or if you have long time animal pen or workshop stalls put them out. They give you good drops. You can use crafting products to reduce their growing time.

Also remember to move both of your trophies to each field before harvesting. This is very important!!

One Two's strategy (from last Viking event) for choosing Axe heads

Overall, I did 14 mini games. My results were :-
    50 star coins : 12 times
    40 star coins : 1 time
    32 star coins : 1 time

The last 11 were all 50s. I played them today morning.

I think this game is easy. You have to just apply your mind. Do not just click blindfoldedly.
For the axe head. See the number of green circles your first attempt gives you. If its 1 or 2 green circle. Reject all the axe heads similar to such axe head. Go for a new one. If you get 3 or more than 3 green circles, go for axe heads similar or identical to it.

    Features of axe head :
    See its
    1. shape
    2. edges
    3. curves

In the below two, the edges do not protrude out. Their shape is somewhat rectangular
    [IMG] [IMG]

below 2, the edges ( that's the curve at the head) protrude out. Their shapes are somewhat triangle. But the second one is somewhat v shaped triangle. So they both have similarities and dissimilarities.

    [IMG][IMG]

This one is semi circle and there will be a gap between it and the hilt when fitted
    [IMG]

This one is somewhat rectangle and one side is elongated
    [IMG]
The below 2 or triangle shaped head and the edges do not protrude out.
    [IMG][IMG]

These are some of the features that help us to identify the axe heads. There are many more and with my English vocabulary on shapes, I tried to put it into words. If you get low number of circles, see what feature gives you minimum and reject axe heads with that features. If you get more than 3 circles, check out in the next attempt with axe head similar to it. Please bear in mind that axe head are combination of one or two features. Example, Protruding head axe [IMG]give you more green circles in first attempt. In the second attempt you use [IMG]. It might give you more green circles. But if it did not, then try the shape. Your first one is triangle, so go for a triangle in you 3rd attempt. If it too doesn't give you good results, then the criteria is not the shape or protruding one. It might be the curve. Some have semicircle curve, some have a arc, some have a part of the semicircle. So try out it and see if you can also match other features.

Try out the same for the runes too.

This is how I played the game. Whatever I say in this post, do not take them as the rule or law. See if what I say is correct or not and think about it. Apply your own formula. Take time to make your choices for every attempt. Do thinking. See if the hilt, axe and rune fit one another and are not awkward or unsuitable.

Interesting analysis. I'll try that this time. I usually only look at the lights. I might have some time to relax this week. Probably shouldn't tho. LOL! Lots of gardening and fire cleanup to do but it's going to be a hot couple of days so... I b chillaxing inside.

UGH! after harvesting my first two "nuked" rounds and planting event crop w/ water on 1x1s... I realized I'm not going to be able to use 12h coupons! I've already had the experience of using up all my manure to discover there was NO manure at any price for the other fields. Don't want to try that again. Scouring FSQs for some machinery to use that I have items w/o buying stuff, to finish.

In the FAQ it shows a display of "Bullseye Bonus". I can't find in the game where I can call that up. Do I need to get a second bullseye or what?

gardengal, that's a low number for some fairly long growing crops.
When they request high numbers of drops for an event they usually seem to boost the possible drop rate. So, yes, smaller plots are better. Let me restate that... The higher the number of drops requested for an event the better off you will PROBABLY be using 1x1 plots. If you have farm machinery and CAC it's best to use 1x1s. If not consider using, the much overlooked, 1x2s. It's usually easiest to have all fields on same schedule. Oyster mushroom are 13h, w/ water ?I forget. Is that your longest growing crop? Does adding water to it fit your schedule? If so use it for your overnight crop.

    On second thought...
Event crop 8h, w/ water 6:25h. Two rounds is going to take me 13h to harvest. 24-13=11h. I will be looking for a crop w/ water that will finish in 11h preferably a "refined" crop. Get the picture?

Now for a game of 20+/- questions:
(first decide which is more important... trying to finish the event or... not. )
    1. Overnight fields: mix of mid range crops, pens. If finishing an event is a priority, then get rid of all pens/stables/workshops. You can leave trees but better without them.
    2. Farm level: 69 Longest growing crop available: ?
    3. Baha level: ? Longest growing crop available: ?
    4. LL rune: No
    5. Trophy levels: crop -- ?, animal -- ?
    6. Did you leave empty space on each of the drop producing fields for your trophy's? Did you place the trophy, browser refresh, then harvest the field?

Thanks to those who offered advice, I appreciate it! I only have one trophy. Should I still move it to each field before harvest? I'm using 1x1 plots and I do have the harvester so I don't have to do it by hand. I'll mix up my crops overnight tonight & see if it helps improve drops with tomorrow morning's harvest. After that, the next day I'll take out all trees to see if that helps as well.

    Thanks again! :)
**Later EDIT**> >> I just went & got the other trophy, didn't realize how easy it was to do that. Now I'm working on upgrading them.

I totally messed up the time on those comfy fields. I was an entire day off. I blame it on the 1st of May, it's a red day in the calender where I live, so went totally slipper and Sunday mode, Tuesday is 2 days after Sunday... so even if I had "2 Sundays" in a row the penny did not drop. So with a lot of fuss and head banging the keyboard I managed to squeeze 229 drops out of the epic failure. "What can go wrong, will go wrong" I should pay closer attention to those law of Nature. I sure hope you brought an extra oar Nelly, this is going to be an upstream battle for me.

Gardengal, the only advise I can give you is: Stay sane, and hang in there.

One day the god of drops will make a mistake as well, and then the drops will rain. (Unless you're like Nellie and I, and use an umbrella that day. If it weren't for bad luck we wouldn't have any luck at all). Early on I managed to crawl over the finish line with a good push from my friends, they still do push me when I'm on deep water. So don't be afraid to accept help, most of us are thrilled to help out. Even with bad luck, umbrella up at the wrong time, one broken paddle and going upstream, when I should float downwards, I do manage to finish most events. This will happen even sooner for you.

    -Moraine, you're too funny.

I haven't done any milling yet. But my "free" throws are... 52/50/55

gardengal, You didn't answer my questions... ;)

I wouldn't expect "mixing" crops to help...

YES! it is imperative to move the trophy, browser refresh or count to 10 if you prefer, then harvest. Otherwise the trophy doesn't not register as being on the field and you do not get the benefit of the trophy.
Then move to next field and repeat those steps. It's tedious and time consuming but it gets results. 29 is too low.

It's been hammered into my head, by strong farmers with heavy hammers, drops is related to time of growing. So the longer the crop takes, the better chance there is for a drop. Changing and mixing crop doesn't do much but feed the FOCD and superstition, which I'm normally happy to go along with. I was the first farmer on the old forum to owning up having farmerama OCD o_O Years and years of therapy helped as much as mixing crops do.

Plant your longest crop, no pens do not give great drops, trees might, but water is cheaper than mulch.

*nods knowingly* It's the 2nd Sunday's fault. Just there to trick us to go slippery slope with slippers. On the positive side, there will probably be another event demanding drops next week.

Oh and thank you to the person explaining there is going to be an extra giver. I never read the faq, just look at the pretty pictures, so thank you so much for holding my hand and explaining over and over again to me. I really appreciate it

I don't read them either .....Am so very glad and very grateful to the people that do the maths for these events
I do the events from these
A very Big thank you to these people

And as for LL ...I completed that months and months ago and haven't seen an improvement in my drops
Howie donuts ...don't see they do much either

(first decide which is more important... trying to finish the event or... not. ) I'd like to finish, but we'll see. :)
    1. Overnight fields: mix of mid range crops, pens. If finishing an event is a priority, then get rid of all pens/stables/workshops. You can leave trees but better without them. Overnight tonight I'm going to mix mid growing crops with longer ones. The day after that, taking my trees out to see if that helps.
    2. Farm level: 69 Longest growing crop available: ? Garlic at 16:45 growing time which I unlocked today when leveling up.
    3. Baha level: ? Longest growing crop available: ? Level 58, longest crowing crop that I have unlocked is protea (10:00 growing time) which I'll be planting overnight tonight.
    4. LL rune: No
    5. Trophy levels: crop -- ?, animal -- ? Just got the 2nd trophy & upgraded both as far as I was able to: Platinum Farming Award & Silver Country Cropper Award. With these I think I'll see a definite increase in drops with tomorrow morning's harvest.
    6. Did you leave empty space on each of the drop producing fields for your trophy's? Did you place the trophy, browser refresh, then harvest the field? Yes

Yep, Moraine I was thinking you were the one that gave us all FOCD. lol And sorry about all those headaches. I had the purest of intentions... ;) :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
Maybe we need a voodoo doll to help us with drops...

    gardengal,
    1. why do you want to mix mid and longer crops?
    2. if you have time for the garlic w/ water and manure tonight, I would grow that.
    3. yep, I would grow the protea too.
    5. Yay!
    6. bummer and you still had only 29 drops?! for all your fields?

The main reason I like the LL rune is not having to lug the trophies (esp since they took our little red truck away from us) around from field to field, wait for the refresh, harvest, plant, repeat... It's been debated whether it's more drops or not. I don't remember. But it is definitely faster and easier!

gardengal, my farm is still somewhat young. At this stage it is all about the trophies and the overnight crops. Each trophy, when you hover your mouse over it, will tell you the percentage it is up to. Combined, they can go as high as 30%, so the faster you can get that number up, the better. And I water everything, to speed it up, and manure when I can. Like someone else said, use your longest growing overnight crop. Get refinements for them, so the game sees it as your longest crop, but your refinements take off a big chunk of time. Good luck to you, and all of us newer farmers!

@eowynruss Yep, I do all of that already as well, thanks! Happy to be able to use both trophies now! How are you doing so far? What level are you at? I'm level 69 but still sometimes feel very new when it comes to events, lol. Good luck to you!

@SuzeeRabbit I guess I misunderstood what you meant when you said, "Overnight fields: mix of mid range crops, pens" ... So I will only plant the long growing ones tonight then. Thanks for your detailed help, I appreciate it!

At the 24 hour stage, I have 624 Drinking Horns, 28 of which were gifts, 6 from Magic Trees, so not too bad. :music:

I am getting an average of 25 from each of the four fields of event crops so from three daily harvests, I should reap about 300 Drinking Horns. With about 30ish from the Glade, this puts me in a good position to achieve the necessary Drinking Horns. Famous last words!

I have been pretty lucky so far with the 11 attempts on the mini-game I have achieved 9 (I think) Bulleyes and have all the stickers except the third one (again, I think, can't access it at the mo!). That has given me 561 coins. Let's hope this continues! 8)

I'm feeling lucky! Hope you all feel the same! xD

Good going Phoenixboy12! You will be so relieved to get there, it is a great feeling to achieve that particular milestone! I was so lazy, I couldn't be bothered to move the trophies around (and to be completely honest, I mostly forgot!) so you will certainly notice the difference when you don't have to lug them about! 8)

Emoticons seem to be disappearing at a rapid pace. Have they been overworked?
