The Game of the Old Mariner FAQ question

In the FAQ for The Game of the Old Mariner it says that you can either match backgrounds or characters, but in the little video there it shows you can only match characters. That matching the backgrounds don't count.

So which is it?

Matching characters OR backgrounds will work.
Or only matching the characters will work.

The video just explains how the mini-game works, it does not mean that one can only match the characters and the backgrounds matching does not count. Many a players chose to match the backgrounds in the previous version of the game. So feel free to match the characters as well as the backgrounds. Both will work. Good luck!

 

The video shows two buttons to start the game: one to play by matching characters, the other to play by matching backgrounds. You will get to choose your style.
