I went the same route as tlcmom & baw815.
I see it as I'd have to wait for the drops anyway, might as well get the cheese wheels working for me now.

A note on said wheels: The cheese wheel in the city is a 6 hour wheel. The wheels in the buildings are 12 hour wheels.

 

Like many here, I went crazy and "cleaned" every spot I could For the first time, I got the 200% + items in the wheel

So far, I've made 60 tools As the power duff's EPs are higher than the carnations', I can collect them to get more PF's

I spun the party wheel and won the 200% harvest bonus for 24 hrs yesterday evening, AND won the +1crop for 6 hrs on the regular farmwheel right after... then when the 6hr +1 expired I spun a few more times and won another +1 for 6 more hrs LOL... so my happy loopy butt has been up alllll night growing event crops like a mad woman . I suppose at some point I should focus on gathering those dang magnifying glasses, so no more wheel spinning for me or I'll keep growing event crops and raking in the PF lol . Congrats to everyone else that the farm wheel is being nice to this time around!

Okay, this is driving me insane, why can't i even open one spot, they all have locks on them??? What am I not seeing? I can't believe that this is happening!!! Real life is busy, but I don't know what I'm missing here! Molly

Forgive me, i think I've finally discovered I need to open a certain number first in the city.... oops!

 

Finished everything but the tools. Made 50 so far but I think I need a REALLY BIG magnifying glass to find the smaller ones that are hiding somewhere on my farm!! Feels like it's going to take forever to get those Good luck to all!!

 

Anyone have any idea what drops better mag glasses? Only done 28 tools and have 1100 soot and 6 glasses right now.

 

I've been wondering the same thing, sunshine. I tried a field of mid-length (10-12 hour) stables yesterday, with no real difference in ratio than a field of crops. So today when my carnations are ready (about half an hour), I'm going to try a field of XXL trees with SSG. Longer harvest than I'd like, but the magnifying glass drop rate is ridiculous, and I only have 38 tools with 2 1/2 days left. I'm debating whether to do almost-instant carnations, but haven't decided yet. They give great soot drops, but the glass drop rate has been mediocre at best. Anyone else found a combination that works for magnifying glasses?

 

The one and only way to get Magnifying Glasses in larger quantities per harvest is to use long timed crops/pens/workshops. Quit growing the Powder Puff Plant asap, especially when you do not care for reducing the Cheese Wheel timers and gathered enough to mill. Switch to over 12 hrs (the longer the better!) crops on 1x1 plots, or pull out your best pens/workshops that run for about 18hrs or more with or without upgrades. Every one of those workshops I have out -in manufactories- gave me a single Magnifying Glass on every harvest.

I admit this means you'll have less harvests per day but in terms of drops it pays off. Doing multiple harvests a day with short running crops (under 6 hours) just doesn't get you enough drops to progress faster. In the end thou it should provide just enough drops to finish at the very last moment.. or not. Soot and Magnifying Glasses are for sale in the shop for a reason..

I personally do not bother with trees as to me their drop ratio has proven to be the worst, no matter what time they take.

70 tools milled in 54 hours with 65 hours to go on the Event Clock. I'll make it.​

My carnations gave me roughly 25 m.g. per field, so I went ahead and tried a round of almost-instant (my chestnut CR's in cool-down mode or I'd do instant ) on 2 fields, and will try one round trees in my glade to see how they produce. I normally agree with you, trees don't give good drops, but I thought I'd give it a go. If they don't give as much as I'd like, I'll switch to workshops. Right now event crops are only growing on Baha.

 

Spots, if you're willing to waste precious SG for more drops, do use 1x2 plots on a field to get the max result. When your barn is overfled with SG .. try 1x1 .. oh well, you've been farming around long enough to decide yourself!

I just harvested 8 trees -20hrs- and got 2 Magnifying glasses.. sigh.

Given the time remaining I see no need to speed up crops/pens/workshops for drops. I use the extra grow times for RL and typing messages like these

I'm using comfort fields for the carnations, so SG usage is kept minimal, too much of a hoarder to do it otherwise . With buffs and flower CR, I can get a harvest of carnations in under 3 hours, and past experience has been that each CF should yield an event drop. Only harvest will tell me how many will be what I need, tho. Will update you in about 40 minutes what the ratio soot to glasses was. I won't do many rounds, want to save SG for rumored upcoming visit by the queen. As for the trees, I've got over 4000 SSG saved since I started playing the game, can easily afford to use some for an experiment. I doubt I'll do BB, saving PF for breeding events . 70 tools, that's awesome, I'm so jealous! I know there's lots of time left, but right now the hunt for drops leaves me feeling a lot like a rat looking at a piece of cheese thru a window - I can see it, but can't quite get to it.

Okay, so from 2 fields of comfort fields, 78 total CFs, I got one soot AND one m.g. per CF. So guaranteed magnifier from each CF. I used white innocence, fruitcake, source of life, elixir of life, flower CR, water, poo, and SG, for total turn around time of 2 hours 20 minutes. With a healthy SG reserve, well worth it to me to do a few rounds to get those glasses.

 

I don't know. The best drop I've had on a field of carnations so far has been 21 glasses. I got 170 soot but only 21 glasses which is not even two tools worth. I've got workshops and long term stables in my magic glade and I got 31 glasses this morning but it's really only a one time a day harvest on that field. I only have 42 tools total right now. I think I'm going to have to break down and use SG or I'm simply not going to make it with this drop rate.

 

I hear ya, LDCrow. My overnight carnations on regular fields were giving about 20-25 glasses per harvest. So I tried them on the comfort fields, and discovered you can get a guaranteed glass for each CF. I figure I need to do at least 4, possibly 5 more rounds to be able to finish growing event crops and have a reasonable expectation of finishing. I'll do a few and reevaluate later tonight.


I've got to apologize, I keep saying I'm using SSG, but it's turbo mulch is what I meant. Sorry for the confusion. Still doing carnations on CF, took a nap the last few hours, now back to farming. Over a hundred XXL trees gave 7 whole glasses , so am putting out some saved up mystery stables and workshops in magic glade.

 

The only site left is POST OFFICE...needing 329 soots and 417 magnifying glasses..still 2 days to spare
Planting carnations and honey dew overnight 1x1 field with only water...stopped planting event crop as have enough around 10000 to nuke wheels...Good Luck all of U

 

I don't think I will have enough time to finish this even if I get all the drops there will not be time to do all the milling !

 

so far, I need 34 tools to finished. event crop had grow enough.
I find that those glasses really hide away. seldom had troubles with drops.
I even think BP had mislead us. why the FAq say glasses drop on same as
soot except adding breeding.
I find that I got more glass from animals & workshops.
Yes, workshop & some animal stall need much longer time to mature.
But I got tired to see I got 40 soot when I got less than 10 glass when I
harvest a full field of event crop!
Notice there is a sudden BBD, so I breed some, what I got
every motel give me one glass!
Maybe happy harvest day had some effect on it.
But Compare to the drops I got from normal plant harvest.
BP what us to spend
Look at those cheese wheel giving us PF/SG,SSG...
If you grow quite enough of event plant. just spend 200 event plant, you could got instant
harvest. So, you want more glass,used PF to breed animals. Or, spend SG to speed up plant
for using CF field. Ah... there is also a mega EP day for ask you buy BB, same aim
There is no free lunch, BP won’t give free gift with little cost!
You want to finished get the CR & giver, pls spend

But.....maybe BP know they got too harsh on the drop data in planing. So, they give us
a happy harvest day, mega EP day as well as a BBD to temp us be a big spender

So far i have made only 50 Detective tools or got 550 magnifying glasses. As it just over two days left of this event. Interesting points Spotbox. LDCrow and Halabala about strategy to get the best Drops for Magnifying glass.
Let me put here some very useful handy pointers, That will boost your Drops of Magnifying Glasses.

Look at the Cheese Wheel as if gives us



The best reward is 1 Party Spin as you can either win

• 200% Harvest
• 100% Harvest
• +1 for 6 Hours
• 20 Super Grow

Here is a Strategy any of these except Super Grow can reap you extra Power Puff Plants, as every 200 Power Puffs can reap you 1 Party Spin Instantly. Using the Party Spin to build up some stock of Super Grow.

Use your Gained Super Grow to be used on Nuking using SG Love refinement on Leeks (Three reasons to use Leeks can benefit +1 Veg Cloud Row, plus they have higher crop value in the markets, they are needed for recent Quests) as oppose to using Carnation Refinements.

I normally use the Magical Glade to Nuke 40 x Comfort Fields as only need 40 SG per Harvest. As Leeks can be reaped Instantly or Near Instantly. As i use my Howie Donuts on the outside too. This method will reap you 40 Magnifying Glass per Harvest
If you are lucky to win 40 Super Grow using 2 Party Spins, it will help get you 40 MG Drops

I am now trying to reap as many Power Puffs during this event, using them got gain as many Party Spins as i can it is more rewarding for me, Hopefully for you Peeps too.

I only done 50 Detective Tools so still need 500 Magnifying Glass. Try get as many as i can in next 36 Hours as i will do some Nuking to get the remaining MG Drops to Mill the last need Detective Tools

I never bother with any trees to Boost Drops during events. I sticking to using Crops as i find them give the best drops which can be benefited from Refinement and Buffs, Tree are at disadvantage of this !!

So put aside enough Power Puffs to Mill the last Detective Tools. All other Power Puffs to be using to reap as many Party Spins as i can

 

I planted 3 fields of turnips overnight and got an average of 18 glasses per field for a total of 54. Now at 48 tools. with 48 hours to go
