I started the new Event by planting all different types of mushrooms. The next day I harvested the crops and then went to check out the Top 1000 list. My rating was 0 because I had not donated anything but the top one was already listed at 2 million +.

    I immediately decided why bother?

I realize that with my limited computer usage I still would not be in the "Top" list for my level but it might enable others who wish to participate.

I did not list this under Mushroom Harvest Feedback because it applies to other similar events where there has been a Top 1000.

Is it possible to change this so that there is a Top 100 (or 500) for each level and then a Top 1000 or whatever showing the Top 5 players from each level?

It might increase the interest in taking part in that part of the event(s).

How successful you are in TOP1000 doesn't depend much on your level. Of course you need to have played for a while and invested time in your farm, but doesn't mean you have reached a high level. If you trade a lot at the market with TOP1000 as your goal, you can make it at a relatively low level. On the other hand, having reached a high level or being a long time player doesn't necessarily mean you have any chance of participating. If you read the strategy thread, you'll see a level 78 farm that will do very well, but my farm at level 94 would have no chance to make it to the list. So I think splitting the TOP1000 up based on level would just make the competition very unfair.

I have to disagree with you -Mir85- for this particular event you can furnish Stew and items from your Inventory.

In some cases if you have played for a while and invested time in your farm your are at a higher level than others who may have started at the same time as you but do not have the time to play all day. I also realize that others "buy" their way by purchasing the baskets and therefore are able to get more event crops faster because the baskets usually contain starter seeds and some other item to help with the event (event drops, power feed, super grow, craft items).

In this particular event the baskets range from:
    70 - 405 Blue Parasol
    60 - 350 Blushing Star
    40 - 230 Orange Honeycomb
    50 - 295 Forest Lantern
as well as Carrot-apple Chutney for the large basket

In addition, in past events the higher level crops have usually had a higher exchange rate than the lower level crops. So Carnations would be more valuable to trade in than Tomatoes. If you are a lower level player you might not be able to furnish Carnations and therefore the Higher Level player would have an advantage.

In addition lower level players may not have the Inventory that higher players have. I know that when I started out I did not have any where near the amount of tree fruit or production items that I have now.

Of course really low level players don't have a chance, that is clear. But at level 70 you get access to almonds and at level 77 maple sap and those are just as good for TOP100 as carnation at level 83.

The stew and and event crops are almost irrelevant when we consider that being among the TOP1000 might require 150 mill - 250 mill in exchange value. What matters is your inventory. You could get the required amount by just growing high value tree fruit every day for a year, but that's not how most players like to farm. So realistically most of the items will come from trading at the market. Many players prepare the whole year for TOP1000, always looking for items with a low CC/EV ratio to hoard. In general a level 100 player will probably have a better starting point than a level 80 player, but not necessarily. What resources you have in your barn depend on so much more: what your goals have been (EP, CC, filling the barn, items, FSQs, pink stables), how you run your farm (trade at the market or produce most things yourself), how much time you spend, how much you optimize your farm to reach your goals, and how long you have played (which isn't always reflected in the level). I think it would be incredibly unfair to adjust for only one of the factors (the level). We all have a different starting point, but for most of us it would require lots of preparation and dedication over time to make it. Which is how it should be in my opinion.

TOP1000 is one of the great challenges in farmerama, I don't see it as a bad thing if people who have played for less than a year, or are not willing to put in months of preparation can't participate successfully.

I realize that Bigpoint wants to earn money by selling their products. I just thought that if a lower level player or someone like myself looked at the "Top Player" list for an event that they should feel like they have a chance instead of seeing the first time they look at it that they don't have any chance at all in making the list.

If you don't want to have the list broken down by level maybe it could be done by "Groups" consisting of levels __ thru __. This might give players "Hope" and also it might add to Bigpoint's sales if people thought they had a chance.

I also have to state that it is very depressing to look at the Top 1000 for the first time in an event and see your self listed at ZERO while others have over a million.

As far as players preparing for the whole year to compete this wouldn't change even if it was divided by level/group. It may be more important to some players and then again it could be that some players are just hanging on because they just started or because they haven't gotten the hang of it yet. I think having everyone grouped together to compete in the Top 1000 may depress them as well as that would not encourage them to spend money on Farmerama items.

Should players who have the ability to plan ahead or buy baskets, etc. not be rewarded? No -- that is not what I am saying at all. As a matter of fact, my first post stated that even if you divided it by level or group I still would probably not be in the "Top" list.

As far as your last comment -- maybe you should look at people who have played for less than a year as "Potential Buyers" of the items you sell -- that might change your mind.

With regards to your last comment: No, I will leave the money side of things to BP. My opinion is based on what I think makes the game more fun to play for me. I don't think I was ever depressed by the TOP1000 list. There were plenty of short time goals to focus on, and for me it was motivating to know that later on there would be new goals to aim for.

Of course what makes the game fun and motivating varies a lot, I just wanted to share my view :)

I guess we all have our opinions.

Congratulations on never being depressed. As for myself I do find it depressing to check out a list and see that I have zero and others are over the million mark. It lets me know that I have lost before I started but since this is only a game I will not let it keep me depressed.

I just thought someone at Bigpoint might want to know how it looks to others besides themselves who work at playing Farmerama. There are others who have jobs or jobs/careers, children/family, etc. and don't have the time but they might be willing at some time to spend money on the products offered.

I too am stating what I think would make the game more fun for myself, as well as others.

I too have no chance of being in the Top 1000. But in a way, I am still donating to it. I'm just not playing for the meager prizes offered. I'm selling stuff in my barn for fantastic prices. Building up my CCs and letting those who are attempting the Top 1000 throw my inventory into the Black Hole. While many of those farmers may end up not getting the prizes because of some last minute "strategy", I am almost assured of getting CCs or at least my items back. Color me happy! :)

    Hi nm561,
I am sorry to hear that viewing the Top 1000 is a bit depressing for you.
I do agree with much of what -Mir85- is stating.
It is another goal, among many in this game to strive for, if one chooses to. There are other options or benefits for players as Sweet_Cassiopeia mentioned.
While I don't see anything wrong with the way the Top 1000 has been set up all these years,
your suggestion is worth mentioning. Bp should hear how all their players feel. Perhaps one day in the future they will decide to do just as you suggested.

    Hi Nm561

I do understand how feel about Top 1000 makes you feel Depressing for you....But Top 1000 is Primed and Aim for High Level Farmers,Serious Hoarders of Barn Stocks,Serious Growers of Farm Stocks and Those who Spend loads of BB and Buy loads of Basket bundles....

Those First Farmers got into Top 1000 actually brought loads of Basket Bundles no way using Super Grow on Four New Event Crops they got into Top 1000 that quick

Last Year Farmer who got Placed on 1000th Place had donated at Least 175 Million worth of Barn Stock, as it takes serious Effort and Time to be able to be serious contender into Top 1000

There are lots of Serious very Committed High Spending Real Money Farmers out there that you need to take into consideration that why Bigpoint has always given us this Kind of Event on an Annual Basis for These Kind of Farmers to Keep them Happy

On Another Note if you have a Strategy to Make Loads of CC Simply spend XX amount of Hours Buying and Selling loads of Stuff in the Markets simply building up you CC when you build up considerable amount of CC to snap up loads of Fruits from the Markets you do not need to be high level farmer to do this i know couple of farmers using this strategy but the downside is you do need to spend considerable time browsing the Markets to buy and sell and Stock up your Farm as you go along

It takes some time to be considered among to the Big Players for these kind of Events we did start this Farm more or less the same way as you started your Farm in this game I hope this Clarify Who this Event it really Primed at as There are other Events you can complete but Sadly not this kind of Event unless you are a serious contender ;)

As stated I realize that even if divided I would not be on the "Top" list but I still think that it make affect some others.

I have not reached the donation part yet so I don't know if I will donate or not. I do know that I would not make a serious effort to make the list and would just skip that part of the event. Maybe I am wrong but I think there might be some people out there who would but aren't because they are competing against higher level players and don't stand a chance.

There's an old saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it". Bigpoint seems to be doing ok -- maybe I should keep my opinions to myself.

nm561, this is the one event during the year that is geared to part the big money spenders from their cash. The majority of events during the year are much more designed for the rest of the players. Don't be discouraged that you can't participate. These people are the ones that make it possible for the rest of us to play the game without spending a fortune (or even play free). Christmas is coming and there should be some nice things available. Last year (and other years from what I'm told) we had an advent calendar to open which gave us plenty of "free" things. Cheer up! :D

I do not have a problem with higher level players having an event for them. I guess what I am trying to get across is that the impression it gives to players is that they don't have a chance unless they are at level 200 where they would have access to all the crops, buffs, etc. that would enable them to compete in this event.

I just thought someone would like to know the impression it gives to those who can't compete is negative; especially when you consider that it is rated medium. Maybe if the Event Announcement stated that the first part was rated medium and that the donation part was aimed at experienced or top level players only it might not give this impression.

I do not compete in these types of "Top" events because I know I am not at that level and do not have the excess money in my budget to buy baskets, etc. This does not bother me at all. I try to compete in the other quests that I can complete over a longer period of time or events that are oriented towards my level.

As far as us getting plenty of free things I appreciate that. I just think if it was separated by levels/groups there might be more competition.

Please note that I enjoy the first part of the event and the prizes associated with it. The graphics are great as usual.
