    I was wondering how to send a gift for the event to someone who is not on my neighbor's list. I tried to find the info on the event FAQ, but either I didn't understand, or missed it. I know it is possible to do because I have received gifts from non-neighbors in this event...but how did they do that?

    You may send gifts to your friends, not only to neighbors.
    If a player is not in your friend list, you need to send him a message through the post office and then add him as a friend.
    Then you may send him a gift.

    Thank you xristos-ale3andros, but I am asking specifically about the trade and gift event. I have received gifts from 2 people who were not on my friends list and would like to share with others in need who post what they are searching for.

    As xristos-ale3andros stated, to send someone a gift who is not your Neighbour, you need to first add them as a "Buddy". You can find the instructions for adding a Buddy here. Once this is done, you will then have that Buddy added to your Friends list and you can send them Gifts for Gift & Trade.

    You are welcome.

    To have been sent a gift from a non-neighbour, yes they would have had to sent you an IGM so they could add you as a Buddy. If you still have their IGM, you can use that to add them to your Buddy list.
