Upgrades

When you already have an upgrade in place it doesn't always show that you can place another upgrade.
Example: If you have placed a yellow stable and now have an orange it doesn't highlight when you go to place the orange on top of any available stables.
If you have an XL tree already place it doesn't highlight when you want to place the XXL tree.

I'm not quite sure what you issue is. When placing an upgrade on an item you normally place it straight onto a base item, nit an item that already has been upgraded. Orange stables go onto base stables, they do not need to go onto a yellow. Placing an orange stable onto a yellow will return the yellow stable to inventory. The same applies to XL &XXL trees

i think i have come across the same issue. i understand the current upgrade will go to inventory when you place the higher upgrade, but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. there have been cases where i have to delete the stable with the yellow upgrade, replace it with the base stable, then put the orange upgrade. other times it has worked putting the higher upgrade directly on the lesser upgrade. i do not recall whether that issue has happened to me with trees or stables or both.

Placing the tree on the base is when you have only regular trees or when placing a new tree and the XXL upgrade at the same time. I already have my regular tree on one of my fields. Although I do not plan on placing the XXL on top of my XL tree I would like for it to highlight to make it easier to find and also to let me know that I have a tree that needs upgrading. With all of the new trees and stables we have limited room so I have placed one of each tree on the edges of my field and then extras of others when I have room left over.

This is what happened:
During the last event there were trees that were given as one of the rewards. I planted the mystery trees in a temporary position on my main farm and then when I harvested them I received an XXL Apricot tree. I deleted all of the new trees from my field and then when I went to place them permanently I clicked on the XXL Apricot tree to see where I wanted to place it. I had an XL Apricot tree already placed -- this tree did not highlight as being available for the XXL upgrade.

I have noticed this with the stables also but the only one I can remember for sure was the Beaver and that problem was resolved but I know it has happened with other stables when they are yellow and you have a higher upgrade. The problem with the yellow stable is not that it doesn't go to inventory but that it doesn't highlight as needing an upgrade when you have a field of pens/stables.

when you win stables & trees from wonder stables, they also include the base. in order to seperate them they need to be deleted and returned to inventory before you can replace them.

You don't understand what problem is.

Example of Problem:
You have 5 regular Apple trees on main farm. As time goes by you add XL upgrades to two of them. You win an XXL Apple tree and when you go to place it three of the Apple trees will highlight showing they need an upgrade but the two XL Apple trees will not highlight.

This may not seem like a problem in this instance because you could put the XXL on a regular Apple tree but when you have only one tree for most of your different tree types on the 3 fields (Main, Green Meadow and Magical Glade) it makes a difference.

The highlight doesn't show up so you think your Apple tree is upgraded all the way when it is not.

 

With trees, you should be able to place an XXL upgrade over an XL. I have tested this and it works. It seems more of a display issue.
Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies and especially clearing the Flash cache as well. Also check to see that you have the latest version of Shockwave Player installed as shown in the Display Issues FAQ.
