Can a player go down the mountain or the only way is to go uphill?

I'm close to getting 260 BO and using them I can open either box 9 or 29. If I open box 29 can I then open box 28, 27 and on or I can only open box 30 and basically get stack until I get another 260 BO to open box 9.

 

Try what can be opened with the cursor.
You can get back and forth along different routes.
I've only opened one drop box myself (lower), but all the key boxes on the lower mountain are already active.
The rope route and ladder were a particularly positive surprise.

 

No you cannot got down the path, but you can go up from multiple boxes. Just look, all the boxes that can be opened have a white glow. You can only progress upwards from the 3 boxes that require 5 Silver Keys.
