Thank you Niknar for starting us off. :) I am at 38 and 42, with 10 life jackets. 30 to 35 jackets for a field of event crop.
Good call dumbunny on the use of Pinkie Pie for the buffs. I forgot to PP the overall revenue bonus.
    First CR up.

habalala could you please tell me what that means; "more of their crab in the water"? I have been mostly gone for almost 6 months and trying to catch up. So I was wondering if "more crab in the water" means anything important? Please share your knowledge but if it's top-secret 8) that's cool too. Thank Happy Farming

I tried to send you a drop but they say no player by this name. Sorry :(

Done as much as I can, thank you all for the drop tips.
I only have the first two parts of crystal falls open. Gosh thats a mission (;)) to get the rest open. Especially when its event crops taking up time. never mind. I'm the one who walked away for so long.

ctindaldavies - you're right about it being difficult to open the crystal falls all the way. If I remember right, I didn't get the last section open until about a year after it debuted on this farm. The resources needed were just too precious to give up for the small amount of space it provided.

Okay, I am revising my goals. Getting the first cloud row for this farm and calling it good. SL's farm has had a better run of it and so still hoping to get all the way to the end on that farm.

Noting that - SL's farm just ran through the quest to get the starter crops for the second half: DO NOT DONATE CROPS TO STEP 6 - none of the levels on the last step reward the crops - just boxfish wonder stables and EP/TEP. So it's a waste of event crops - event crops you'll dearly need to get though the main part of the event as the amounts needed to donate to each step rise dramatically after step 77.

Good luck to all who attempt to venture onward...

Editing to add: got a wild hair last night and put Ixora in on the rainforest instead of the event crop - used some SG on it so I just harvested it. Got 124 drops (with Howie Donut on the field plus I have a Howie in the tree). So we might have to do this to increase drop numbers to get a little farther in the event. Those last two compasses are soooo far down!

If you haven't got the Living Legend with maximum on your trophies, this will make a big difference. ;)

If it's any consolation to those struggling, this is tough for both crops and drops for those over level 200 and I think I may only finish this event if I use my other revenue buff ... I had been hanging on to them till I had event crops on most fields so I suppose this is the time to use 'em up! :wuerg:

They definitely helped with the MM event ... just planting longest term MM crops to get drops now. Still at least that one ends a little later so I have a fighting chance to get them. :music:

What fields does the revenue buff work best on? 2x2? Thanks

    1x1s I am sure AniE.

2x2s will give you 10 per plot (less the one to plant) = 9 per plot
    4 1x1s will give you 16 (less 4 to plant) = 12 per 4 plots (equivalent to one 2x2)

I am talking about the +100% Plant Revenue buff here but it is the same with +1, you will get 6 from each 2x2 (5 after replanting) and 12 from four 1x1s (8 after 4 for replanting - equivalent to one 2x2).

Hope this makes sense and I have my sums right. Please correct me if I am wrong. :p

I would always use 1x1s with CAC and any revenue buffs. The only time I use 2x2s is to save SG and SSG, manure and water. Or if I am harvesting by hand.:)

Well I have just made it half way. Level 50 on one side and 51 on the other. No way this is going to happen. And this is with buying supergrow and a large and a small basket. Not to mention the harvester subscription and another howie. And blew through about 5 mill CC in the market just on manure. I have just over 8000 each of the first 2 crops sitting there, with no jacket drops to back them up.

Assuming the living legend rune is unlocked and all trophies are maxed out, there are 2 things you'll want to focus on if you're struggling with drops:
    1. base time - the longer the crop, the better the drop rate
    2. efficiency - maximizing the base time to real time ratio, where base time = initial growing time before buffs are applied
In other words, planting your longest crop isn't good enough; you also have to squeeze as much growing time into every hour of real time by using refinements, CR buffs, artisan products, water, manure, and/or SG. That's why it's better to plant a longer crop with buffs that reduce the base time by the greatest percentage rather than planting the longest crop available.

On Baha, the choice is easy - plant your longest vegetable (lablab-bean is ideal) on 1x1s with water and manure after activating:
    • tiki timer* (20% reduced growing time for tropical vegetables only)
    • essence of wisdom (6% reduced growing time for tropical vegetables only)
    • healing ointment (4% reduced growing time for tropical vegetables only)
This will bring the lablab-bean down from 19:00 to 9:35 - a 200% increase, or 2 hours of growing time for every hour of real time.

The mainland is a bit trickier because the best option will depend on what crops and which refinements you have access to on your farm. I personally like to use refined raspberries on lower-level farms and refined valerian on my main farm, but there are several other crops with time-reducing refinements that can serve as decent alternatives. Again, don't forget to use artisan products, water, and manure (if available).

In case these measures are not enough, it's a good idea to have at least one "instant crop" - a crop whose growing time can be reduced to 0 minutes when SG is applied while fruit cake and white innocence are activated due to refinements that increase SG effectiveness - on hand as a backup. Growing instant crops is, by far, the most effective way to use your SG.

Crocus is the only true instant crop (growing time reduced from 21 hours to 0 mins) I'm aware of for players without the Chestnut Festival CR and/or the Birthday Wish CR, both of which increase the effectiveness of SG by 5%. The next best option is use refined roses, which can be reduced from 10:48 to 8 mins on 2x2s or from 43:12 to 32 mins on comfort fields.

Read more about instant crops here and here.

I can't emphasize the importance of refinements in this game enough. I see so many players who completely ignore this aspect of Farmerama but they do so at their own peril.

    * If anyone needs tiki timers, send me an IGM.

I started using 2x2 with supergrow. I didn't want to use the 1x1 with supergrow because I wanted to conserve my supergrow. The crops with 2x2 gave an equal amount per field as those planted 1x1. So with afew supergrow I can grow enough for 40 drops, or wait the full time to get 40 drops from a 1x1 square. I have enough drops now to finish the quest, although I still have quite a lot of crop to grow.

Don't think I will finish this. I have finished the FSQ and have done levels 59/63 on the two side bars. May make the 150 mark. :p

If I only had to do the main event crops, it would be a doddle but as I also now have to try to grow the additional crops, seems a little beyond reach.
BUT I am carrying on cos if I stopped and then got a +200% harvest on the Wheel tomorrow, I would be very, very, very annoyed! >:(

Woah zero, that just gave me a headache. I only just discovered refinements a few days ago, and it's going over my head, and about to read up on what a tiki timer is. Information overload to be sure. ;):p. However, I do really appreciate you posting this.

I don't know if SL's farm will finish. I gave up on this farm. Got the first cloud row and most of the quest and gave up when I realized just how much resources this event needs. SL's farm has the drops and the quest crop - it's the sheer numbers of the regular event crop needed to get to 100 to get that last compass and the final CR. May take every green goo and rotor that farm has (and it had a lot before this event, plus I purchased more). So this one isn't just a "hard" event, it's a "near impossible to finish" event in my book.

Edited to add: holy cow - I must have been half-asleep last night - SL's farm just finished! Used a plant revenue bonus this morning, so the additional crops on this morning's harvest were enough to get through both sides. Now I have 30 hours of that to plant regular crops - gotta figure out what I need the most!

Finished... Third CR up and giving country coins. Yesterday, I won +100% x 3 with party tickets, used super grow on drop only fields 6 times and finished with 918 extra jackets. Also have over 3000 Knotweed and Waterski. The end came up faster than expected !
Best wishes for all farm friends on this most difficult event. :)
