    There is two type of drops. One from crop/tree & another from stables.
    So, you plan long term crop only help you to get more Gummy worms & tools
    since both drops are need on 50/50 basis.
    My advice is at least clear one field for animal farming to see how the drop rate come.
    Then adjust whether your field need to share out in 50/50 or just one field of animal
    farming is enough.

    Now, how I wish I was in Germany.
    It will take days before my miserably slow 486 Desktop computer send a signal to the BP servers that I have released a button on my mouse. Especially since the ball underneath the mouse has been misbehaving lately.
    Now consider the distance between the continents and my chance of getting through this are, as Aluntino pointed, 0; to the nearest whole number...

    Looks like an event I should be stepping out of.:cry:

    I really don't care if I fail, but I can't see using the 138 machine parts I got on a game that still depends on skill.
    It's like double jeopardy use up items you need on workshops with little hope of getting anything for the farm.

    I like the games, but I need a lot of workshops, and I think I should be thinking of them......:sleepy:

    Feathers drop only from stables and not from workshops. Worms also cannot be got from workshops. So there is no drop item to got by harvesting workshops.

    Read it in German FAQ

    I've just opened 8 XL toolboxes from FSQ rewards and that only got me an additional 6 machine parts. I have never paid much attention in the past how many would normally be in those types of boxes but that seems a bit low to me. I don't think I would advise anyone spending a bunch of CC's to be able to get the toolbox rewards.

    Drop rate for machine parts might be better in toolboxes once event starts.

    I am in a privileged position, having several useful refinements, the chestnut festival cloud row (increases super grow effectiveness) and super grow to spare (from a Jumbo tree and from party spins, I never buy super grow directly). Based on this my strategy will be this (I think):

    • Most of the time I will fill my farm with stables to get as many lure feathers as possible
    • Place trees along the edges to get some gummy worms
    • Plant cotton on comfort fields with super grow. Refinements, buffs and the chestnut cloud row result in instant finish. This way I can get as many gummy worms as I want in a very short time.
    • Depending on the answer to my question, I might plant some rounds of pumpkin with machine part refinement to get more machine parts.
    I now have 750 machine parts, I wonder if it will be the machine parts or lure feathers that will be the restricting factor.

    Thank you Mir, I'll give it a few more tries to get the tool drop refinement. But not weeks. Once my pumpkin stash of 4000 runs out I'm out, so maybe a few more days.

    Thank you EssaB, I am definitely working on any quests that award toolboxes and swapping daily gifts with neighbors. I think it will probably be better once the event has started, but my last four only netted two machine parts.

    In preparation for the event, this time I'll dedicate my tree-free land -roughly 60% of non-barren land- to pens (stables), placing them overnight, so that to maximize the chance of getting a good kick at lure feathers right from moment zero, coupled with a long crop in Baha; this long Baha crop + trees should give me also a good start kick on gummy worms.

    I think the real problem lies in what to do next, during event's steady state, which the best approach should be. This is why, from my standpoint,:
    * machine parts chance of dropping will be increased, so, I expect to get the best results in this regard from 1x1s with crops;
    * but feather lures can only be gotten from stables, generally the worst performers in drops terms, which means I'll try to understand what stable duration range leads to best results for my farm (for sure, I'll be raising geese, a shortish timed one, but I need lots of other animals, and I'll raise just those I need); a safe bet would be a short timed pen, like orange chicken coops, but that means a poo tsunami very difficult to digest, and I don't need them, plus cuffing myself to the PC, which I won't do;
    * I bet many players will go for the chicken coops, and this means we'll see poo prices at lowest levels, possibly all time lows --> best time for crops;
    * combination of pens and crops inevitably lead to misuse of buffs, but I can live with that.

    So, I'll see.

    I suppose the hardest restriction for most will be machine parts, though, much more than lures/worms. We'll anyway need to wait to see the actual behaviour once event starts.

    Each of my farms has enough machine parts to make 100 reg lures. I'm not worried about machine parts. I'll use whatever I get. It's a mini-event, destined to keep coming back whether we want it or not. I might calculate 10 * orange pens for reserves. But I don't remember which workshops use them. Don't really care. LOL! But I don't build many workshops so not really worried about that. OK, based on that I'll keep 100 in reserve. If I want more I'll work on refinements. I'll just trust the devs to get the drop rate right. LOL!!!! They did OK with drop rates recently so maybe they finally hired a REAL programmer that knows a little math...

    I'm not thrilled about this event. I only played Renzo a couple of times after it was first introduced. I'm lousy at it. It's a waste of my time and resources. That said...

    I'm going to start by making 5 of each and testing. I'm going to try for the CR. If I have no luck on the puter since it is overheating in this heat... (More 100F+ heat for next week.) I'll try using my tablet. But the response time from BP is much slower than any of the other websites I visit. So not much hope of getting any rewards from this event. May have to wait until autumn...

    I've always seen events as an opportunity to get rewards. Even when I was a low level player and unable to finish events, I never saw that as a failure. For me... I've always seen the game as win-win.

    Good luck, y'all. Keep us posted on your success and failure so we can get a better idea of how much effort to invest in this event.

    EDIT:
    Aluntino posted while I was typing. I'm planning on an average one field trees, one field crops, one field stables. Meadow will continue with mix of workshops and stables. I'll adjust on the second day if needed. I expect short pens to have the usual "lousy" drop rate and I will not bother with them, as usual. I will go with longer pens because I will only login once or twice a day since there is no event crop to babysit and it's too hot here. 95F+ inside the house, hotter outside. I won't bother with buffs as is my usual mode.

    I'm looking forward to this event even though I haven't got loads of machine parts and personally think the requirements for them are a bit steep but I like that it's different. I have to say though that in normal events we know exactly how many of something we have to get to be able to get the deco's for the CR but this is just on hope and luck which I think is a bit unfair! The rest of it I like!

    Suzee,

    Due to the amount of lure feathers needed, under the assumption that combined chance of getting the right items will be low, I guess the longer stables are not going to be the best bet for those players logging in rather frequently, except for preparation for event start. Probably, mid-duration stables will be better, enhancing the actual chance of getting lure feathers (this of course depends on the rate for lure feathers set by developers: if it'll be one every 24 hs, for example, for each 2x2-plot every stable takes, then longer stables will be better; if it is half of that, instead, mid-duration ones will be better; if it is a fourth of that, then most probably shorter ones will be better). However, if a player, like you, doesn't log in often, then that's the way to go, longer stables, regardless of the lure feathers' drop rate the developers will (or already have) set.

    I see that the "sticker" for this event is in every prize pool. I just hope that once you win one, you can't win it again!

    Thankfully, it can only be won once. Per the FAQ: "Please note that the Gone Fishin' Event cloud row can only be won once, and the event sticker as well."

    to be on safe side make sure you update windows 95, defrag, clear cache and for mouse just a little wd40 should help.:D

    great chance to stock up on machine parts before i attempt any fishing. they wont be traded in for ep and cc.

    ummm my luck with filling cloud rows, that are only won on chance and/or luck is not good. I have yet to win those silly flowers, I have three of them multiple times....... i keep getting the same ones over and over. I think fishing is a wonderful sport but at the current moment I only have 200 machine parts lol. Unless I see an incredible increase in drops for machine parts ..... I won't be wasting them all on the small chance that I may get a cloud row that I might be able to use. Good luck to those who have the time to do the refinements with the pumpkins to increase their drop chances on the machine parts. Have fun and enjoy!
