One of my favorite things to do with our dog, Popcorn (avatar photo), is to go for a walk early in the morning when the sun is just beginning to peek over the horizon painting gorgeous colors across the sky. Popcorn is always agreeable to doing anything together....walking, just hanging out in the backyard, snuggling on the couch or bed to read or watch tv, lying next to me while I crochet, going for a drive in the car, helping 'cook' in the kitchen by volunteering to be the official taste tester:pxD. She would even be willing to 'wash' the dishes but I don't let hero_O Whatever I am doing, she is too :)

Our cat is getting up in age so my favorite thing to do with her is to groom her. She really loves to have her fur combed. She perks right up when she sees the comb.

My favorite thing to do with our dachshund, Max, (avatar pic) was to be with him doing anything: vacations, ride in the car, walk, toss a tennis ball...you name it, Max was game to try. Max loved life and always had a smile on his face. He was part of our family for 16 years and is buried in our backyard garden.

My favorite thing is to take my cat Oliver (see avatar) for a walk in sun around yard. He loves playing and catching bugs.

We used to have two cats, sadly both passed away some time ago but still sorely missed. Fred was just up for fun and would happily sit on the fence and tempt the neighbour's Alsatian puppy over to say a friendly hello - and then pat him (not so friendly) on the nose! Floyd was the baby and wherever Fred went, he went. He would curl up with him no matter where he was. In his early days, he would sit on my head and fall asleep - many the time I have been watching the TV with a kitten on my head! It's easy with a kitten but at some point, I had to wean him off of this. Not only the increasing weight but in case he had some uninvited guests! :D
Last days of summer ... I would love to be able to still watch them at their antics together and with other cats. :inlove:

Hunter, our beloved Maine Coon/Persian mix was a very large and fluffy ginger armful of affection. He joined our family during our stint in Australia. Before joining us, he lived with a work colleague who was moving to a new posting where she could not bring pets. Hunter was about two years old at the time. He soon settled in and proceeded to put Max, the dachshund in his proper place.;) Hunter traveled from Oz to Mongolia to the back of the bayou where he passed away after Ida's untimely visit.
Hunter was 17 and is still dearly missed.

Our pets unconditionally gave so much to enrich our lives. :music:

Critters have been a part of our family as long as I can remember. One that I remember well was a black and white Belgium Hare named Fluffy. I was around 6yo and he joined our family around Easter time. My Dad built a raised rabbit hutch large enough for me to sit inside. I especially remember bundling up in my winter coat, hat, and mittens and sitting with Fluffy while snow drifted down to the ground - magical!:inlove:

I use to play soccer in the house (while my 4 kids were at school) with our dog Zulu! He was a massive dog but soooo gentle and really good with a ball. I will have you know, we never broke anything while chasing the soccer ball around the house!!;)
That is, until one day I was having such a great time with Zulu, I lost track of time and forgot that my kids were going to be rolling in from their bus stopso_O which stopped in front of our house pretty much.
They had NO idea that Zulu and I played soccer IN the house....I always sent my kids and dog to play outside. You know - accidents could happen after all :music: much safer outside. Well, they could, from outside, here me inside the house laughing and Zulu barking, and let's not forget our running back and forth in front of the large living room window open to the world (Zulu and me needed light and air baby so curtains were wide open)!! My kids were stunned as the watched and listened. They realized I hadn't noticed them standing in our front yard - so they planned amongst themselves to sneak in give me a "Surprise" attack (more like a heart attack!!). I didn't hear them come in or call my name - "MOM!!"
I had the soccer ball and was cruising down the hallway to the living room (that is where our goal was set up) with Zulu in tow barking up a storm and trying to steal the ball from me. (Zulu usually waits until I have the ball almost at the goal, then steals/blocks it and makes the score himself - I tried that technique - didn't go so well for me-.-When I say Zulu is 'massive' - think small pony) Anyway, just as my kicking leg was in motion, my kids shouted "SURPRISE WE"RE HERE".... (sounded like poltergeist). Imagine, my foot at a wrong angel connected with the ball in exaggerated vigor.....oh the sound of shattering glass in dead silence:wuerg: - my face - my face was confused as to what to do!! Happy seeing my kids home - yes. Ashamed at being caught by my kids - also yes. Sad seeing and hearing that I smashed the largest glass item in the dining room - swinging chandelier - another yes...and so much more.

Even Zulu was confused! He looked at me as to say - "what the heck happened mum, you missed the goal".

    I miss Zulu:inlove:

Some of my best memories include those last days of summer before going back to school was riding. I have shared here in the forum before that my first love was a chocolate colored Shetland pony named Billy Whiskers. He was a champion show pony, but to me, he was my friend :) The lessons I learned on him transferred to larger mounts as I grew.

My sisters and I trail rode, showed in Hunter Jumper and then I learned Dressage:inlove:
