What are those place called, bygo_cris.
They are beautiful. The second type of architecture is also found in Japan & China I suppose. Am I right ? What do you call it ?

Below is sunrise in Marina Beach, Chennai, Tamilnadu, India. Its the world second largest beach. Just five mins walk from my home. My mother took these photos during her early morning walks. You can see ships in the background and fishermen returning in their boats after a night long catching of fishes in deep sea.

The first photo is a river in Seoul.
In the second photo is the traditional Korean design construction. All the old (and some new) buildings keep the traditional design which has a lot of blue and red color. The national colors. Korean architecture has reflected the human scale, imparting a feeling of intimacy to its viewers. Few traditional Korean buildings are grand in size, rather, they give an impression of coziness and tidiness, and are far from being overpowering. In architectural design, Korean architects took full notice of the surrounding terrain in their efforts to create harmony with nature.Korean architecture gives an impression of liberal and carefree simplicity. A variety of decorations and colors were used in Korean traditional architecture.
Chinese have red and gold colors and different design. In China, decorations tended to be extremely elaborate, sometimes to the extent of superfluity or grotesqueness. The Chinese were excessively preoccupied with strict symmetry.
Japanese has some similarities in constructions but are simple. Not so colorful and without paint design. The Japanese were extremely concerned with minute details.

The characteristics of decoration in Korean architecture might be considered to lie between the two, maintaining the beauty of moderation in use of color and ornament.

12ss12 So beautiful sunrise. I think is great living close to the sea. Nice view, the water, the beach, swimming, fishing :music:. I'm 35-40 min away but it's not same like living so close to the sea.

Willow you have some beautiful neighbors :) It's great! To have a small wild life in your garden ;)

bygo_cris - I feel good on seeing your river. Its because here in India all rivers that flow through city have been polluted with sewerage. But you have saved your's. I have learnt some architectural tips about Korea, China & Japan. Thanks.

Willow - I remember the time when we very young and used to catch butterflies & dragon flies. We will catch them and let it go free near our block, so that we can show off that we have more butterflies than the 4 or 5 blocks away. The person who catches the biggest butterfly or the tiniest dragonfly was looked upon with envy. But from my childhood didn't like lizards whether it be garden or house. But your picture of lizard is beautiful - particularly the pink colour is nice.

The below are the birds from my work spot. Indian Cuckoo or Koel (we call it Kuyil) & The third is a variety of the Koel Bird - we call it mani kuyil. They sing beautifuly. They don't show themselves and perch only on very high branches. So we had to zoom them from a very long distance. The trees are Ashoka Tree and neem tree(middle one).

12ss12 - Nice photos! It takes time to get pictures of birds and insects, because they do not like to pose for us. I like the butterfly contest you described!

Wasn't it ? But what we didn't think about was that within minutes the butterfly would fly away back to their old places. Childhood memories. The biggest butterfly which was usually dark black or violet, we used to call it Rajah Butterfly.
